- In 1982, Universal Studios sued Nintendo over the original Donkey Kong (pictured), claiming it infringed on the King Kong franchise, which Universal at the time claimed ownership of.
- Donkey Kong was originally planned to be a Popeye game, but Nintendo could not get the rights to the characters.
- Super Mario Strikers is the only Mario Nintendo GameCube game to support 16:9 widescreen as well as 480p.
- Boos were originally named "Boo" Diddlys, a pun on the late rock star Bo Diddley.
