MarioWiki:Everybody is equal

Deletion of Green Space (Mario Party 9) redirect

The 'Shroom Images

I noticed you and a few other admins have been untagging images for deletion if they are used for The 'Shroom. I get that this decision is made to preserve older issues of The 'Shroom but I tag them for deletion because if you look at MediaWiki Categories, they appear as duplicates because they have been categorized as such, such as Category:Super Paper Mario Images and Category:Mario Kart DS Images for examples. I was hoping an admin would make minor changes to The 'Shroom articles that used the outdated image to use the more up-to-date image. This has mostly been occurring with PNGs that used to be GIFs or JPEGs. Should I instead just remove the categorization for the outdated images so they won't be thought of as accidental duplicates? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 21:39, 28 December 2015 (EST)

There's no harm in keeping the outdated images in the older issues. Yes, the best would be to remove other categories form such images so that they don't show up twice. Thanks for all the work, it's very valuable to our wiki! --™ The 'Shroom 22:44, 28 December 2015 (EST)

Thanks for clarifying and adopting my idea. The only harm I see with the older image is using up server storage space. It just felt awkward to have two similar image pages be existing at the same time or even showing up in the category. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 00:19, 29 December 2015 (EST)

I believe server space is not an issue at the moment (though I could be wrong), so no need to worry about that now. If there are way too many images that fall in this scenario you can tag them with the Requested for Deletion template and I'll be sure to change the 'Shroom sections before deleting, but let's go with keeping both for the time being. --™ The 'Shroom 00:24, 29 December 2015 (EST)
