- Dr. Mario (pictured) was released on the Virtual Console in Japan on the 21st anniversary of the region's original release.
- In the Pikmin Adventure attraction of Nintendo Land, stage 14, "Out of the Darkness," features a structure at the start that resembles the Castles in Super Mario Bros.
- In Super Mario Bros. 3, if a Chain Chomp pulls on its chain 49 times or when the timer reaches 160 seconds, it will come loose.
- At the introduction of the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine, Mario can be heard saying "Looks like a giant-", the rest is inaudible. After Peach notices the presence of Shadow Mario, Mario says "Looks like Mario is going to have to find a new job", and Toadsworth replies "Are you starting a new career?". These dialogues were removed from the American introduction.
