Slope Slide (sometimes called Sliding Down a Slope or Slide) is a move used by Mario and Luigi when they duck on a slope. This move first appears in Super Mario Bros. 3 and later in Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and New Super Mario Bros. U. Frog Mario and Hammer Mario cannot Slope Slide. Peach can also use this ability in Super Princess Peach. The character sits and slides down the hill while gaining speed. Also, the character can do a midair jump by sliding into midair and jumping. The character is invincible to most enemies while sliding. When sliding down icy slopes, characters gain even more speed compared to sliding on regular slopes.

In Super Mario World, it is also possible to slide a hill up by ducking while running it upward. Beach Koopas are also capable of sliding against Mario.
