- Super Mario 64 DS (pictured) is the first and presently only Super Mario game in which Wario appears and is a playable character.
- Petey Piranha, a Koopa Paratroopa, and a Hammer Bro were originally going to be playable in Mario Kart Wii, as evidenced by player character icons appearing in the game's files, but they were cut for unknown reasons.
- No regular Grand Goombas appear in Super Mario 3D Land; only the Grand Tail Goombas appear.
- New Super Luigi U is the only game in which Luigi appears but Mario does not.
