User talk:Tsunami/Sandbox
Hi, I had a look at your table for the items, and yes, I have a few suggestions. By the way, the loosen mushroom pic exists, there's no need for another one. Do you think you could move it here so I can make some minor edits and we can both work on it? - 03:40, 22 August 2014 (EDT)
- Done. Now I will see if there is anything to improve in the article, so we can both edit it. TSUNAMI
- Thanks :D I've already added it to my watch list. I'll make some inprovements, but I'll make sure that you have a share in this. - 06:15, 22 August 2014 (EDT)
- Good! Only a thing... now that you have reduced the colums to 2, it gets sortable, while with 3, it doesn't. Why? And let's decide if the images should be edited to be like the Feather or half big. And look what I found: [1]. Probabily where the images are found, but in-game sprites are better. I also added a thing to the table. Another thing: with a ROM and the program EpicEdit you will find all the item's probabilities to be got. Thing is, there are 8 custom sets and rarity changes within modes. What do do? Let's add them or what? TSUNAMI
- I just find out that the table looks messy when reordered. We can delete the sortability from the left column and putting the name before the image (SOMEHOW) or remove sortability completely. I would opte for the second since I don't know how tables work. TSUNAMI
- Since I was getting no response from you, I uploaded the Coin pic anyway. Thing is, we really need it double the size, it's very small. I think I could easily do that. If instead you want to do that (or maybe we could split the work), upload a new version of the file. We need to be online at the same time sometimes...TSUNAMI
- Sleep is something you can't avoid, I'm afraid. We don't need to delete the sortability, but if you want, I can just change the table. As for the coin image, size doesn't really matter. By putting [[File:SMKCoin.png|100px]] or something like that, the size will increase. - 16:29, 22 August 2014 (EDT)
- Y'know, I have probabily different times from you. Yeah, we need to put the name before the image somehow and maybe delete the sorability from the right column, otherwise the order is random. But the image now looks blurry... I will try to double Coin's size. Or maybe halving the Feather, but I don't suggest that. I can easily do that (maybe only with a single click). If this works like I suggested, I will probabily upload all pics today. TSUNAMI

Actually, the names should go under the item, not above. Maybe we could get rid of that background and just keep the item itself? Like the poison mushroom? - 03:48, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
- The Poison Mushroom is an exception because it never appears in the box. That's an idea, but we first need to choose with pic of Shells upload, in the box or once used, which is different. TSUNAMI
- Thing is, I don't know how to make trasparency in Paint.NET. TSUNAMI
- Try just sticking it on a PowerPoint and removing the background. I think I should rewrite some if the item descriptions, some seen a bit... I don't know. Or did you just take it from the manual? If you did that's fine. I think - 07:05, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
- As long as there are no errors, take from the manual, it's better. If you want to do little edits from that text, feel free. I'll now see how to make the trasparency, but this don't means I will be offline. Because it's better to use the time we are online togheter, work will rocket. TSUNAMI
- I've changed it a little bit, by getting rid if the * things and made Banana Peel suit it's Manual description. The Item Box doesn't really belong there as it isn't an item, but it does deserve a mention on the written section if the article. - 07:26, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
- I simply didn't know where to mention it. I have managed to make the feather transparent. Thing is, we need a background to the table, because if not the white could be confused. Which color do you suggest? Or shoud I make a border? TSUNAMI
- It's fine if you didn't know where to put it. Instead if a border, take a look at what I have done and see if you like it. I ended up completely changing the table, if it's no good I'll revert it and try something else out. - 07:41, 23 August 2014 (EDT)
- I'm impressed! Now I'll update the Feather, see if you like it. TSUNAMI
- I make it darker, otherwise the white pixels are hard to notice. Anyway, good job! I'll now work to make the items twice as big and trasparent using only Paint.NET (yes, I figured how to make, it is a copypaste work mainly). It will take a while, but surely I will do it. If not, why am I even there? If you have some other suggestion for other sections, make them as long as I am online. TSUNAMI

Maybe the table needs to be darker. I'm try it out. -
Just for let you know, I think I can make double sized images faster. I'll try with the egg. TSUNAMI
SMK Items section DRAFT
NOTE: Items pics are to replace. As for now, we need: all but Feather's. Images to need are red-linked.
NOTE: I moved it there for letting both me and Ninelevendo edit it. PLEASE DO NOT EDIT WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Items are obtained through ? Panels, scattred around the track. When the player passes over one, it will turn red (used) and not return orange (though in Battle Mode they did). Once a racer passes over one, with a few exceptions, they will receive an item in their box from the following:
Item | Description | Usage |
---|---|---|
File:SMKItem-BananaPeel.jpg Banana Peel |
When a kart hits a Banana Peel, it will spin out. | Can be thrown backward and forward. Also used by Donkey Kong Jr. if he is CPU-controlled. |
File:SMKItem-GreenShell.jpg Green Shell |
This item, often obtained by first-placers, bounces on hazards such as walls once thrown, and after a certain amount of times, it destroys itself. Its use is to hit opponents, that will spin out and lose time. | Can be thrown backward and forward. If thrown backward, it will remain stationary. Used by Koopa if CPU-controlled, but they will only be stationary. |
File:SMKItem-RedShell.jpg Red Shell |
It is weaker Green Shell that will immediately be destroyed if it hits a wall once. However, it moves straight toward the racer in the next position up. | Can only be thrown forward. |
Feather |
This item gives the user a bigger jump, higher than a hop, allowing for otherwise exclusive shortcuts that occasionally can also be used by hopping while using a Mushroom or Star. | |
File:SMKItem-Mushroom.jpg Dash Mushroom |
This item causes the kart to get a boost for a while and to not slow down on hazard such as grass or sand. Certain shortcuts can be used by speeding through certain areas of off-road terrain. | |
File:SMKItem-Star.jpg Star |
This item can both grant faster speed and invulnerability to other items, as well as causing the opponents to spin out when touched. It wears off after a few seconds after use. | Used also by Mario and Luigi if they are CPU-controlled. |
File:SMKItem-Ghost.jpg Ghost |
The user turns invsible for a while, and steals an item from the opponent if one is held. Wears off after a while. | Only appears in Battle Mode. |
File:SMKCoin.png Coin |
This high-place item allows the player to add two Coins to their total. | Doesn't appear in Battle Mode. |
File:SMKItem-LightningBolt.jpg Lightning Bolt |
When used, all other racers are turned small. If a normal sized racer hits a shrunken human player, they will be flattened as if by a Thwomp. CPU opponents merely get spun out. After some time, every racer will return to normal size. | Doesn't appear in Battle Mode. |
File:SMKEgg.png Yoshi Egg |
Works just like a stationary Green Shell. | Usable only by Yoshi if he is CPU-controlled. |
(image needed - if one is found add it) Fireball |
Works just like a stationary Green Shell. | Usable only by Bowser if he is CPU-controlled. |
Poison Mushroom |
A stationary item. If one is run into, the victim shrinks as if hit by a Lightning Bolt. | Usable only by Princess and Toad if they is CPU-controlled. |
Okay, a few things to note...
- I can't find a fireball sprite image. Please post under this comment if one is found.
- Does it have to be "Manual Description"? The description for Ghost makes me doubt it is.
- Reminder: The Ghost item, as noted, is exclusive to Battle Mode. I don't know if you are aware, but Battle was multiplayer-exclusive until MKDS.
- @Tsunami: Why'd you change the Feather image? The original version of the image fits with the rest of the items obtainable by a human player.
BabyLuigi64
- I have it.
- I will change the Ghost a bit.
- I don't get it, sorry.
- That was request of Ninelevendo. It is the true sprite. And I was planning on uploading others. If your are not OK, try discussing with Ninelevendo, I'm fine either way.
