Princess Daisy, Fortune Street

Princess Daisy (Japanese: デイジー姫, Deijī-hime) is the princess of Sarasaland. She was created by Gunpei Yokoi, Shigeru Miyamoto's mentor. Although Daisy is the ruler of Sarasaland, she currently resides in the Mushroom Kingdom.[1]

Daisy is a tomboy, a fact first stated in her debut appearance.[2] Daisy is represented by the colors yellow, orange, and green. She has an affinity for flowers; her attire, special abilities, personal emblems and general representations are often flowers.

Years after her initial appearance, Daisy started appearing in more and more Mario games. This was due to the lack of human characters in the series.[3] She now appears in the majority of Mario spin-off games, most often as a playable character. Daisy is good friends with Princess Peach, and she interacts positively with many other characters. This includes Luigi, who is often hinted to be in a romance with Daisy. Daisy has appeared in more than forty Mario series games to date, and continues to regularly.

History

Super Mario Land

Princess Daisy's makes her debut appearance in Super Mario Land. Tatanga, a space alien, invades Daisy's nation, Sarasaland, in order to marry her and make her his queen. He kidnaps Daisy, and hypnotizes all the land's inhabitants, enslaving them into his army. Mario attempts to rescue Daisy and bring peace to Sarasaland by traveling through each of the four kingdoms in pursuit of Tatanga.

Throughout the game, enemies disguise themselves as Daisy to trick Mario into believing he has rescued her. In the end Daisy is rescued, but Tatanga manages to escape. Daisy thanks Mario, and the two fly away in an aeroplane.

Daisy also appears in the Game Boy comic books. Just as in Super Mario Land, she is Tatanga's captive, waiting for Mario to save her. In these comics, Daisy, Mario, and Tatanga are released from the world of video games to go on adventures in the "Real World".

Golf installments

NES Open Tournament Golf

Daisy makes her second appearance as a supporting-character in NES Open Tournament Golf. Just as Peach does for Mario, Daisy acts as a caddie for Luigi, and she also makes comments on his golfing during play.

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

Daisy makes her golfing debut in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for the GameCube. In Doubles Mode, Daisy and Peach are automatic partners, setting a trend for later games involving teams.

Daisy is one of the most powerful characters in the game, having a shot "Distance" just above Mario's and under Donkey Kong's. Her shot "Height" is also high, making it easy to recover from traps. She also has a good "Spin", and above-average "Impact". Without proper adjustments, however, she tends to "Slice" the ball due to her below-average "Control". If the player gets a "Nice Shot!", Daisy's ball soars through the air in a burst of flower petals.

Mario Tennis series

Mario Tennis

Daisy makes her first playable appearance in the game Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64. Daisy competes as a "Technique" type. In the intro, she and Peach are shown as being on good terms with one another. She also serves as Luigi's "Doubles" partner, and Birdo serves as hers. She rarely misses when playing close to the net, and she's the most powerful "Technique" character in the game.

In the Game Boy Color version of the game, Daisy appears as a supporting character during the game's "Exhibition Mode". Once the player is invited to "Mario World", Daisy compliments them, saying, "You played incredibly well at the Island Open." Daisy is shown to be close friends with Peach in this version, standing at her side in the throne room of her castle and at the "Castle Court".

Mario Power Tennis

File:DaisyMPT.png

In Mario Power Tennis Daisy is again a "Technique" type. She appears in the opening as Peach's tennis partner, and the two are default partners as opponents for "Doubles" in-game. Daisy's Offensive Power Shot, Wonder Flower, disorients opponents and knocks them back if the shot is returned. Her Defensive Power Shot, the Flowerbed Return, allows her to fly over a growing flower-bed to return any reachable shots.

Like all "Technique" types she has great "Control", as well as the best "Serve" for her type. On top of this she has good "Power", "Speed", and "Lunge". Her average "Reach" results in average net-play, however, and her "Defensive Power Shot" will fail if the ball is too far away.

Mario Tennis Open

In Mario Tennis Open, Daisy returns as one of the starting participants with a Technique style of play. Daisy wears a more modern tennis outfit in this game.

Mario Party series

Mario Party 3

Daisy makes her Mario Party debut in Mario Party 3, and appears in almost every game in the series since. She is playable in the Party Mode of the game, but like Waluigi, she is not playable in Story Mode; she does appear in Story Mode as an opponent-character. Her partner in "Duel Mode" is Snifit.

Once the player obtains the first five Star Stamps, Daisy appears. She quickly convinces the Millennium Star to give her the "Beauty Star Stamp", stating, "When it comes to beauty, there's no denying Daisy is fairest of all! There's no need to battle." Before she receives the stamp, it's decided that a duel for the stamp is to take place on the Backtrack Board. The Millennium Star shows his favor to her, uttering, "...Good luck, Daisy." Before the duel, Bowser arrives, and Daisy promptly slaps him into the sky, claiming, "What? He was in my way!" After the battle, Daisy runs off while proclaiming, "Augh! I don't believe this! I've never lost--not even to my dad!"

Mario Party 4

In Mario Party 4, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Goomba, Boo and Shy Guy all find the odd, mystical Party Cube. They invite the whole Mario crew, including Daisy, to another party inside the cube.

Throughout Story Mode, Daisy receives her Present Room items as rewards for completing each board and defeating the board's host in a mini-game. Upon completion of Bowser's Gnarly Party and the Final Battle Cube, Bowser rewards Daisy with Bowser's Teapot, the final item for Daisy's Room.

This is also the first game for the Mario series overall in which Daisy wears her current main dress, along with Peach.

Mario Party 5

In Mario Party 5, the Star Spirits invite Daisy and the others to visit them in the Dream Depot, due to them being impressive dreamers. They prepare for their arrival by creating party-games. Upon finding out, Bowser and Koopa Kid plan to ruin everyone's dreams by turning them into nightmares.

Upon clearing the first five dream-boards in "Story Mode", Daisy faces Koopa Kid in the Bowser Nightmare board. This is followed by fighting Bowser himself in the Frightmare mini-game. Once he is defeated, everyone's dreams are saved.

Daisy also appears in the "Super-Duel Mode" of the game with her own custom vehicle.

Mario Party 6

Miracle Book

In Mario Party 6, Brighton and Twila watch over the world from the sky. Brighton asks Twila who is the better of the two, resulting in a feud that makes the sky frantically change. Upon noticing, Daisy and the others make plans to end the fight by collecting stars to repair the sky.

The collecting of the stars also results in pages of the Miracle Book being acquired. Daisy appears in five of the pages: "Blooper, Ahoy", "Card Crazy", "Amp Attack", "Yoshi's Revenge", and "It Came From the Deep".

After collecting all the pages of the book, Brighton and Twila take note of the hard work everyone put in to obtain them, and they apologize for fighting. To show their appreciation for the effort, they send the stars into the sky, and the two go back to being friends and watching over everyone.

Mario Party 7

In Mario Party 7, Toadsworth invites Daisy on Peach's Cruiser to travel the world in luxury. Bowser is not invited, however, and he seeks to ruin everyone's vacation as revenge.

In "Solo Cruise" mode, each board requires gathering the most stars to win, but each board has different requirements for doing so. Bowser's Enchanted Inferno is the final board, and winning it leads to the Bowser's Lovely Lift! mini-game. Once Bowser is defeated, he and Koopa Kid are left stranded on an island, and Daisy waves goodbye to them on the cruiser as it sails away.

In "Team Mode", Daisy's automatic partner is Peach, and their team orb is the Flower Orb.

Mario Party 8

In Mario Party 8, a ringmaster named MC Ballyhoo ad his talking hat, Big Top, invite Daisy and the rest of the crew to the Star Carnival. Mc Ballyhoo promises that the winner will be crowned the Superstar, and that they will receive a year's supply of candy.

After the competition, MC Ballyhoo claims he promises something even better than a year's supply of candy: the Star Rod. However, Bowser comes and steals the Star Rod and runs to his new board, Bowser's Warped Orbit. After defeating one of his minions, Daisy challenges Bowser to a fight in the Superstar Showdown. Once he is defeated, the Star Rod is returned and the candy is awarded to her.

Mario Party DS

In Mario Party DS, the story begins in the Mushroom Kingdom, where five shining objects fall from the sky. The next day, Kamek drops off an invitation for Daisy and the others to go to Bowser's Castle for a feast; all as an apology for his many evil deeds. Upon arriving, Bowser and Bowser Jr. trap them in a cage. Bowser then uses the Minimizer, a magic wand, to shrink them down in size. This leaves Bowser to look for the five shining objects, the Sky Crystals, in peace. Back at Peach's Castle, everyone decides to go against each-other in the goal to be the one Superstar that defeats Bowser.

The Sky Crystals are collected as rewards for helping others along the path to defeating Bowser. Once Bowser is defeated, they form to make a crystal DS, specially made for Triangle Twisters. Bowser admits that he wanted the Sky Crystals just so that he could play the game. After hearing this, everyone plays Triangle Twisters together, thus ending the story.

Daisy has a "Character Figurine" and "Badge" that can both be unlocked by completing "Story Mode" with her.

Mario Party 9

File:Pizza Me Mario.jpg

In Mario Party 9, one night outside of Peach's Castle, Daisy is gathered around a telescope with the others to see the Mini Stars in the sky. The stars suddenly get sucked through a vortex. It is revealed to be Bowser and Bowser Jr. sucking them into a container with a vacuum. Everyone sets out to defeat them and save the Mini Stars.

Eventually, the group reaches Bowser Station, Bowser's location. Once Bowser and Jr. are defeated, the canisters containing all the Mini Stars burst and release them back into the sky. Back on the Mushroom World, Daisy and friends come together again to admire the Mini Stars.

Daisy has a constellation called "Princess Minor", which is purchasable at the "Museum" for fifty "Party Points".

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Daisy appears as an unlockable trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The trophy is available in both the Lottery and Regular Match in all three modes at various areas at all times of the game. The trophy depicts her appearance from Mario Party 3. Curiously, the trophy's description states that she appeared in Mario Golf for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color when, in fact, she appeared in Mario Tennis for those systems. Additionally, Daisy's pallete design is available for use by Peach.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Her stickers use artworks from Mario Party 7 and Super Mario Strikers. The Mario Party 7 sticker is large and gives +27 attack to leg attacks. It is only usable by Peach and Zelda. The Super Mario Strikers sticker's size is medium and gives leg strikes an attack of +5. It available for use by all characters. Peach once again has an alternate costume that looks like Daisy.

Daisy's first baseball appearance is in Mario Superstar Baseball as a Balanced player who leans more towards the Technique type. Daisy appears in Challenge Mode as the secondary Team Captain on Peach's team. Daisy shares good chemistry with both Peach and Luigi, while she shares bad chemistry with characters such Waluigi and Petey Piranha. Daisy's special move, the Flower Ball, allows her to throw a gust of flower petals, hiding the ball from the batter when Daisy is pithing. As a batting move, the Flower Ball flies at a higher distance than normal and is hidden by flower petals. In the game's Challenge Mode, Daisy is only able to use this move once the player has purchased the Pretty Flowers power-up. Daisy's special talents are the Quick Throw and Sliding Catch, and her strong points are pitching and batting.

Mario Super Sluggers

Daisy appears again as one of the Team Captains in Mario Super Sluggers. Daisy shares chemistry with Peach and Luigi, but now she also shares chemistry with Birdo. The Daisy Cruiser returns, but this time as a baseball stadium. Daisy's special moves are based off flower abilities in this installment as well. Baby Daisy also appears in this installment.

Although Daisy is available from the start overall, she has to be added to the roster in Challenge Mode. In order to do this, the player must fix the fountain in a long series of events by placing a Toad statue where Daisy stands. Daisy then joins Mario and his friends.

In Exhibition Mode, Daisy is the Team Captain for the Daisy Flowers. The icon for this team includes Daisy's crown, along with a floral wreath used as the border around it.

Mario Strikers series

In the game's Striker Challenge Mode, Daisy faces against both Peach and Waluigi. She battles Peach to take the Star Cup championship, and she takes on Waluigi to see if she can get the Brick Wall award for an unprecedented fifth straight year.

Daisy made her second Nintendo DS appearance in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. Daisy is a Technical player. Daisy's Special Shot is the Flower Shot, which lets Daisy hover in mid-air to kick the ball in the hoop. The flower shot is activated by tapping a vertically flipped triangle. Daisy has her own stage known as Daisy Garden.

Itadaki Street DS

Daisy also appears in the Dragon Quest crossover game, Itadaki Street DS, which is a Japan only release. Daisy is a playable character, and her story role has something to do with the Mario Stadium from Mario Superstar Baseball.

Daisy returns in the sequel, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, also for the Wii and DS. She returns as a Speed type and has the Flower Trampoline technique on both versions as well as a Flower Dash technique on the DS version. Following a trend from previous installments, Daisy and other female characters sport a new outfit specifically for the winter games.

In the Wii version, there are a number of items available for purchase relating to Daisy. Players can buy two decals of Daisy, one winter and one of her regular appearance. Also available is a set of Daisy banners; all of these items can be used to personally decorate event equipment. Like other characters, a Daisy Suit is available for purchase for a Mii to wear; it increases speed and acceleration.

In the DS version, the Adventure Tours mode features Daisy as a key character in thwarting Bowser and Eggman's evil plans. Daisy helps on a number of occasions through the plot. She is first found in Blizland, where the player must use Blaze to defeat her in Ultimate Figure Skating. Afterwords she competes in a minigame in Ice Peak to protect an affectionate Chao's Freezalea patch from a wild Kiki.

Daisy is later used to complete two missions run by Lakitu; Short Track and Intense Short Track. Lakitu requests Daisy to boost crowd appeal, and he offers the Meteor Curling Stone as a reward; the Meteor Curling Stone is used to complete the games final missions, including the boss battle with Bowser and Eggman. Once the final battle is won by Mario and Sonic, every character chimes on their hand in victory and Daisy announces, "There's no way we'd ever lose to a bunch of misfits like Bowser and Eggman".

Mario Sports Mix

In Mario Sports Mix, Daisy appears again as a Technical character. Daisy's technique is maxed, while her speed and power are average. Daisy's central abilities are her flower powers, through which she can make gardens complete with fences and cover her hands in flowers in a similar manner to pompoms to block and attack. Daisy also shows off incredible flexibility in her spin attack. Daisy is also given an alternate outfit called Tennis-wear. It is unlocked by clearing the proper Flower Cup mission, or by using Daisy 40 times in matches. The Daisy Garden also makes a return from Mario Hoops 3-on-3, and can be played in all sports except Volleyball (with the exception of a special mission).

Other Appearances

Promotion and Merchandising

The Daisy plush doll by Sanei.

Princess Daisy has been featured in many sets of collectibles for the Mario Series. Many mini-figures have been released as well as a small amount of larger figurines. In her initial release for Super Mario Land, a set of mini figures were released for the game. Daisy got one of herself depicting her original design.[4] A Mario Party 7 set of 4cm vinyl figures were released in 2005; each of the playable characters in the games were featured.[5] Released in 2008, Daisy was featured in a group of 6 characters for the release of the 4-inch, series 2, vinyl, Super Mario, figures by PopCo Entertainment.[6] For volume 2 of the Furuta Super Mario Bros candy toys, Daisy was featured with her own mini-figure; these series of figures were shipped inside chocolate covered eggs to be open and eaten to receive the toy inside.[7] Aside from these, Daisy was featured in the BanPresto Super Mario Volume 2 Set of 6 PVC Figure Keychains.[8] Daisy has also had a number of figures for the Mario Kart series, including a figure for Mario Kart DS[9], and multiple figures for Mario Kart Wii[10], including a pull-back bike figure.[11] She was also featured in the Super Mario Chess set as the second bishop on Mario's team, alongside Princess Peach. She was featured in the second series of Super Mario K'Nex blind-bagged figures as the rare, being limited to two per case.[12] She was featured in the Sanei line of plush dolls in 2013.

Music

Many of the songs from the Super Mario Compact Disco revolve around lyrics dealing with or relating to Daisy. The song Save Me (With Your Charm) actually states in the beginning that it is Daisy singing,

Yo, this is Princess Daisy| You're listening to Super Mario Compact Disco| Kick it

Daisy was also mentioned in the songs Super Mario Land, Radio Compact Disco 4, Super Mario USA, and Six Golden Coins; most of these mentions related to a love interest between Mario and Daisy, Daisy being captive, or Daisy being rescued. The song lyrics make several errors in relation to the games, however.

Aside from the Super Mario Compact Disco, Daisy had her own song on the Super Mario Land [single]. On the Japanese release, the song was titled Daisy's Mix, but on the United Kingdom release it was titled Daisy's Breakdown. On the Super Mario Land OST released only in Japan, Daisy had her own song titled Oh! Daisy (Princess Daisy Theme). On the Mario Tennis 64 OST, Daisy had her own trophy theme called Trophy Win - Daisy. Any other soundtracks featuring level music, such as Mario Kart Double Dash!! and Mario Hoops 3-on-3, contain the theme music of Daisy levels pertaining to the specific game.

General Information

Personality

File:Daisy-BoardWin-MP9.png
Daisy with arms-akimbo.

Daisy is known to be a tomboy. She can be described as energetic, cheerful, and confident. Daisy has a strong competitive drive, and in the face-of-defeat she has shown hotheadedness, though most of the time she just shows disappointment, and at other times even optimism.

A unique trait she retains is speaking in contemporary-vernacular. She has repeatedly used one-liners like, "yeah-hoo," said in dixie accent, and even, "yo," in an urban accent. She also has a sassy side, and tends to stand idle with arms-akimbo. She is prone to air-kisses coupled with uttering, "mwah," during victory celebrations, and in the past has shown-off to get her way.

Appearance

Daisy is a human with sapphire-blue eyes and orange-ginger hair. Daisy is of average weight and height compared to most characters, usually being in the "Medium" or "Light" weight-classes in Mario Kart, and being a little shorter than Peach.[13] Daisy's face is round with full cheeks and a pointed chin. Her eyes are round and large, with each having two, thick lashes on the side. She is also doe-eyed, with a button-nose, and flushed-lips. Her skin is fair and has a beige complexion. She has very thick, long hair, reaching past her shoulders in length. Her hair color ranges in shades, but is officially referred to as orange.[14]

Clothing

Daisy usually wears a floor-length, yellow dress with orange and white accents. Wrist-length, white gloves, and orange heels are worn with the dress. The dress is adorned with orange ruffles and panniers, as well as white frills on her collar, sleeves, and gloves. Daisy wears a viridian-green brooch, surrounded by a flower-shaped, white rim. She also has flower gems on the front and back of her crown, and flower earrings, all following the same motif. Daisy's crown is gold in color and has four jewels set on each side of it; the two on the front and back are red. A white petticoat can sometimes be seen under the dress as well.

Sports Wear

File:Daisy volley london.png
Daisy in athletic wear.

Daisy's primary athletic wear is a two-piece sports outfit. This outfit was introduced in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. It includes her floral white collar, flower jewels, and crown. The shirt is a yellow tank-top and the pants are a pair of orange shorts with yellow accents. She also wears a pair of orange-and-yellow tennis shoes with white bobby-socks. Daisy appears in this more often than any other outfit, including her princess dress.

Introduced in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, was an athletic mini-dress similar to Peach's from previous games. It is a yellow dress with orange accents at the bottom resembling the ruffles on her princess dress; it includes her usual jewelry. It was unlockable for Daisy as an alternate costume, and has been used in subsequent games as well; usually as an alternate.

In Super Mario Strikers, Daisy wears a two-piece soccer uniform. The outfit consists of a midriff-baring, orange crop-top with viridian-green as a secondary color, and white as an accent color. The top also has a flower emblem with Daisy's soccer number. Her track spikes are viridian-and-white with orange soles that have the letter "D" on the heel. She also wears white soccer gloves with orange-and-black wristbands as well as orange shin-guards.

In Mario Strikers Charged, Daisy's uniform is armored, due to the increased intensity of the game. Aside from the increased amount of protective equipment, the uniform includes numerous flower patterns, and is available in two colors. The first is mostly orange with aubergine as a secondary color, and white and viridian as accent colors. The alternate is mostly viridian, with white and orange accents. Daisy's soccer number can be found on the back of her chest-plate. Daisy appears in this outfit for her trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Daisy, along with the three other girls, in the opening for Mario & Sonic at the London Olympic Games.

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Daisy wears an outfit more suited for cold weather. The main piece of the outfit is a yellow mini-dress with a hoop at the bottom. Long, orange sleeves with white lines accenting each arm, and matching leggings are worn underneath. It includes white ankle boots with yellow lacing, white gloves, and her usual jewelry and floral collar. As of Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games the hoop of the dress and rim of the gloves are fuzzy.

In Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Daisy wears a yellow leotard with orange lining on either side. The outfit retains her standard jewelry and collar, and also functions as a one-piece swimsuit in aquatic events.

In Mario Kart Wii, Daisy wears protective leathers when riding motorbikes instead of karts. Daisy's leathers are mostly white with yellow as a secondary color. They include her flower jewelry as well as a neck-scarf. Also included are biker gloves and boots. Her back has a yellow heart graphic with an orange outline.

Powers and Abilities

Daisy's abilities are based on her large relations to flowers. Most of her special abilities use some sort of flower-related effect. Daisy's style of play changes depending on what activity she's participating in. Daisy's range of abilities can be summarized as all-around, with a certain change in each game that determines the overall style. Like other Mario characters, Daisy can punch, kick, jump, and even ground pound.

Special Abilities

Daisy's "Flower Swing" in use. (Mario Super Sluggers)

In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Daisy has the longest hit ratio for any human player. In Mario Power Tennis, Daisy is a technical player who has two special moves. The first is called Wonder Flower, which is an offensive power shot where Daisy summons huge petals around her racket. The other is called Flowerbed Return, which is a defensive power shot where Daisy summons a bed of daisies underneath her while she is in the air. In Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Daisy is once again a technical player. She uses flower powers in her special move, the Flower Shot, in which she summons a barrage of petals around herself and then kicks the ball into the net.

Daisy fields a ball in the opening cinematic.
Daisy on the fielding end for Mario's team in the Mario Superstar Baseball opening.

In Mario Superstar Baseball, she is a Balanced player who leans towards Technique. She can easily hit a home run if she receives a good pitch. Daisy's special pitch and swing in Mario Superstar Baseball are both known as the Flower Ball. This technique uses flower petals to hide the ball from any opponents' eyes, giving Daisy an almost guaranteed hit or strike.

This is also displayed again in Mario Super Sluggers. For Daisy's Flower Swing, she swings around with flower petals all-about and hits the ball. Once the ball's destination is set a patch of daises pops up from the ground surrounded by a small garden-fence, blocking any players from getting in range of catching the ball. For Daisy's Flower Ball, Daisy spins and throws a ball covered in flowers.

File:Specialability.PNG
Daisy using her special ability (Crystal Smash!) from Mario Strikers Charged.

In Super Mario Strikers, Daisy is an offensive captain. Daisy's Super Strike is called the Torpedo Strike. In this Super Strike, Daisy launches the ball at the goal, and images of daisies fly all about. In Mario Strikers Charged Daisy summons huge orange crystals from the ground. She is also capable of teleporting; the distance depends on how charged the ball is. Depending on how charged the ball is, Daisy can teleport a long distance by doing a spin in smoke. After the spin she re-appears a certain amount of length away in any direction.

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Daisy is for the first time, a Speed character. Although she is a Speed character, her rounded technique still qualifies her for a balanced range of event handicaps. In certain game types where it is available, Daisy can use some of her flower powers to do various things such as spike the ping-pong ball, do a rapid combo attack in fencing, and others.

Relationships with Other Characters

Birdo

Main article: Birdo

Daisy and Birdo are good friends. In Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64), Daisy and Birdo are default partners. This is the first time they interact. One of their team names, "Gallopin' Gal-Pals", gives a good illustration of their relationship. In Mario Super Sluggers, they have good chemistry with each other.

Luigi

Main article: Luigi

Several spin-off games have indicated a friendly relationship between Luigi and Daisy. In Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64), Daisy is Luigi's default partner.[15] In Mario Golf Toadstool Tour, they're seen golfing alongside Peach and Mario. Their team names from the Mario Party series include: "Steady Sweeties", "Tango Tanglers", and "Shy Sidekicks". In Mario Power Tennis, Daisy says to Luigi, "Hey, sweetie! I'll take that", while receiving her trophy from Luigi. In the Mario Baseball series, Luigi and Daisy share good chemistry. In Mario Kart Wii, there is a giant, golden statue on Daisy Circuit that shows the two holding hands and dancing together, along with another of Baby Luigi and Baby Daisy. In Super Smash Bros. The two share a team orb, the Flower Orb, in Mario Party 7 and share a team item, the Heart, in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

Daisy and Peach have good chemistry in the Mario Baseball games. They are also rivals some of the time, such as in Super Mario Strikers and Mario Strikers Charged. In the Prima guides for Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii, Daisy is said to be Peach's cousin.

Trivia

  • The Super Mario Land instruction manual calls Daisy "Daisy Princess", even though her official name is "Princess Daisy." This is likely because Daisy's Japanese name, Deiji-Hime, places the word for Daisy before the word for Princess.
  • Daisy's Mario Super Sluggers baseball card listed her Rookie Year as 1990, but the game that she first appeared in, Super Mario Land, was released in 1989.
  • While Daisy does not appear in Mario Golf: Advance Tour, there is mention of her in the game.
