Gold Greenies debut in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, where they are the gold version of the normal Greenie, but harder to find and release a lot of bills, coins and gold bars when captured.
How to capture
Gold Greenies don't attack Luigi but attempt to run from him. They have 20 HP in total. They can usually be found in three or four levels in each mansion.
