About Gooper Blooper
Yes, that's because a Leaf/Shiny Leaf Sticker guarantees a block. While you are right about it, it still isn't considered an effective sticker since it only helps blocking the poison. The Sponge stickers are useful since they fling the poison back at Gooper Blooper. But I will re-put your info back.

About the paper Mario style battle
First of all you choose a partner. This could be a member of a well-known species (eg. Toad, Goomba or Yoshi etc.) or something you made up. It could even be an item(eg. A weird living fire flower). Then you choose four attacks for your partner and five for yourself. Also on your 'turn' you can use an item. On your partner's turn they can leave and send a different partner to replace them.
