- The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (pictured) was the longest-lasting Nintendo console, lasting 12 years before it was discontinued in Japan in 2003.

- According to the Super Mario World manual, the Sunken Ghost Ship was once one of the Airships utilized by the Koopalings in Super Mario Bros. 3.
- In Paper Mario, the Japanese characters on the Toad Town Dojo's billboard read "Way of the old man" in reference to The Master.
- In World 4-4 of Super Mario 3D Land, when the player reaches the end of the level and stand at the gates to the right for a number of seconds, a ghost figure will appear slowly out of the background.
