Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a sport game that puts Mario, Sonic, and their various allies against each other in Olympic events. The game has the official 2008 Olympics license and will feature environments based on actual Olympic venues. Events specifically mentioned include the 100 meter dash, table tennis, and swimming.
Besides Mario and Sonic, Luigi, Yoshi, Tails and Knuckles have all been mentioned as playable characters.
The game will be available for both the Wii and Nintendo DS. It's scheduled for the 2007 holiday season.
IGN.com also noted that they have a good enough reason to believe that Wifi will be included with the game.
Is it a hoax?
The unusual and seemingly random nature of the game and the fact that it was revealed only a few days before April Fools' Day has lead some people to believe it may be a hoax. However, there is no evidence pointing towards this, and the game has appeared on several websites, including Nintendo and Sega's official sites. Also, the very fact that the game has been copyrighted also proves that the game is real.
