Pirate Lagoon
This article is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed soon.
Template:DKRBox Pirate Lagoon is a racetrack in the Sherbet Island area of Timber Island, found in the games Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS.
This track requires all racers to use hovercrafts, as it takes place almost completely on water. It also features a long tunnel near the beginning, which consists of one sharp turn at its entrance. Besides that, the level's main obstacles are its many twists and turns, which racers must try not to speed around if they do not want to lose control. The hovercraft is likely to cause trouble on the turns, as it is considered to be the hardest to control out of the other two types of vehicles, the car and the plane. There is also ramp near the end of the track to skip driving around a wall.
Track Layout
The track begins with a strait pathway into a tunnel. On the other end of the tunnel are several small sections of land sticking out of the water. Racers can find items in this area, although they will have to beware of the few palm trees growing on the islands. A Zipper is also present around here, and it can help Diddy Kong and other racers get an extra speed boost. The track curves as it stretches to a long, crescent shaped island. Racers should ride around the end of the large wall to their left at this point to enter a large, open area. This area simply consists of a lone Zipper and a tunnel at the end of it. Item Balloons can be found at the tunnel's entrance, where racers should be careful, as a sharp turn can be found at its entrance as well. The other end of this obstacle-free tunnel features another Zipper on a rather narrow pathway. Racers can use it, as usual, to get an extra boost in speed. At this point, a few rocks can be found around the area, creating a few walls. The players must maneuver around them and make a sharp U turn around a sunken ship. After that, the track becomes less rocky, having a mostly-strait pathway to another turn. As racers approach this part, they will find a few sections of land above the water and a palm tree to move around. Near the stage's end, the eight drivers must curve around a large, rock wall. A small ramp nearby can help players ride over this wall as a shortcut. Finally, the track ends with another strait pathway leading across the finish line.
