Poochy artwork for Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3

Hi I'm Cobold and a sysop on the Super Mario Wiki. This page used to have a lot of rather useless junk on it and currently there's not much interesting to say. If you need help in MediaWiki coding, go ahead and ask me.

Donkey Kong (Game Boy) checklist

  • Stages section needs a lot of work, also it shouldn't cross over with the story section.
  • Find out names of the enemies, pictures of them, describe them in the article.
  • Create a comprehensive list of Mario's moveset in the game.
  • Highlight the different physics.
  • Expand on articles about common items that appear in the game - Key, barrels, levers, elevators, ladder blocks, Road blocks, spring blocks, springs, Conveyor Belts, cannons, ropes, spikes, 1-Up Heart, Pauline's items
  • Describe mini-games in the article.
  • Enemies: Pharaoh Head is the only one remaining!
  • Stages articles Pictures for Rocky-Valley and Tower.

Pipeline

  • Get a hold of the very unorganized category system (if you have odd categories that could need changes or be removed, we're always open to suggestions)
  • Fix move/special move articles
  • Finish the Donkey Kong (Game Boy) article
  • Tackle arcade classic articles
  • The Games article
  • Gnome work

Awesomeness

What can I say... just listen to it.

Games

File:Mkwiimm.PNG Mario Kart Wii - Great game for multiplayer, Wii Wheel works fine except for a few design flaws, other controller options are nice too have, Mirror Mode is a bit too hard, battle mode turned out very weak offline and a little bit better online, online service overall is the best Nintendo has yet offered.
File:SmG.jpg Super Mario Galaxy - Great platforming, better settings than Sunshine, way better controls than Super Mario 64, the graphics are some of the best on the Wii, the music is absolutely fabulous. The story is a bit weak as usual, but this time at least presented nicely. Camera could have been better. Best Mario game yet.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl box art Super Smash Bros. Brawl - A bit overhyped in the end. Right, there are new characters and stages which are pretty fine, and the music score is immense, but overall there is little new in the Smash world. The online system isn't fleshed out. There could have been so much done better about it and added to it. Still a great game in multiplayer, but the singleplayer experience is lacking.
European box art for New Super Mario Bros. New Super Mario Bros. - Mario works very well in 2D. Cool retro style overall, nice graphics, nice catchy music. Cool intentionally ridiculous story. The saving system is still bad and could easily be abused with Star Coins. Difficulty is all right. There could have been more content overall.
Sm64ds.jpg Super Mario 64 DS - A remake, what is there to say? There are nice additions to the original game and the three new characters work well. Selecting characters is annoying. The controls are the real problem in this game. The touch-screen control is flawed because the red point can move around the touch screen. It should have been an absolute touch screen control. Also there's no excuse for having the same bad camera as the original.
File:Nds-mariokart-jap.jpg Mario Kart DS - A proper Mario Kart game. It's good, but it isn't particularly special.
File:SMRPG Title Screen.gif Super Mario RPG - Great graphics, great epic storyline, cool graphical style overall and cool new enemy and character additions. Music is superb. Battle system is awesome. Sidequests are fun. No PAL-50 compability is no fun.
The title screen for the North American version of Paper Mario. Paper Mario - Best N64 game, mostly because it took a quite different graphics approach and looked much better than Mario 64 or Zelda(s) 64 overall. The controls also work fine (I'm playing this on the VC with my GC controller). The battle system can't live up to that of Super Mario RPG but it's still nice and easy. The badges system is very interesting, the story is fine, the sound is a bit average.
Dancing Stage: Mario Mix Germany front cover art Dancing Stage: Mario Mix - I'm not too talented at this game, I can beat the easy mode. The normal mode is quite interesting with the Mario-themed mix but I'm just too bad for it. The announcer is very annoying, luckily you can turn him off. Most remixes aren't that great, though the selection overall is okay. Only recommended for hardcore fans of Mario music or fans of this Dancing type of games.
European Game Cover Mario Kart: Double Dash!? - Cool game back then, but nothing special. The two-driver system isn't really a revolution, it only gave you two items to hold in the end. The team racing GP wasn't really worth it most of the time. The graphics and music are okay but nothing special. The track selection is fairly okay but there definitely not enough tracks in the game.
European boxart of Super Mario Strikers ("Mario Smash Football") Mario Smash Football - A football game as it should be. The gameplay wins it for me. I'm not really a fan of football but the chaos in the field is nothing like that. The team selection could have been more diverse, but overall it's good. No music during the match is actually a good thing. The menu music is all right. The multiplayer system has been implemented greatly, as you can play every match in the game either single- or multiplayer. The option to create your own tournaments is also much fun. When I heard that this isn't implemented in the Wii sequel I decided to skip that game.
North American box art for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Great graphics, great storyline, great music, great characters, great sidequests, great world, great battle system, great presentation. Did I mention that the game is great? I've been kidding. It's totally awesome.
File:Super Smash Bros Melee Players Ch.jpg Super Smash Bros. Melee - This game made me buy my first console. It's insanely addictive, great multiplayer fun with a lot of all-star Nintendo madness. The trophy system is a good addition, the single-player modes are good and provide a decent challenge. Music is classic.
File:Nintendo 64-mario kart 64.jpg Mario Kart 64 - Nah. The controls are bad, the graphics are bad, the music isn't even notabel except for the Rainbow Road one. The battle mode is done right, but racing isn't as fun here as in later installments. This game isn't polished at all and its fun did not last long.
File:260px-Super Mario 64 box cover.jpg Super Mario 64 - It grew on me. Nice overall, it was revolutionary, but I don't have any special feelings for the game. The controls aren't that good but being Nintendo's first 3D game, that's excusable.
North American box art for Super Mario All-Stars Super Mario All-Stars - All the hard games compiled for those who don't own a NES. Pure retro fun. The much better graphics and the saving system make this better than the original games.
File:250px-Super mario world box.jpg Super Mario World - The rather free overworld with lots of secret passages wins this game for me. Better than Bros. 1, 2, LL, 3, however also quite hard.
North American box art of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Yoshi's Island - Childish? Who cares. This game presents you some of the best graphics that the Super Nintendo had to offer, the gameplay isn't as easy as you might think, and there's a lot of depth. The soundtrack is all right.
File:Dmgdqa.jpg Donkey Kong - Mario's first game, but completely different. This game is quite obscure, but it doesn't come short of style.

Mario (species)

Marios are identical mustachioed human race who love to play with each other, or any Nintendo characters including the real Mario. They first appear in the upcoming game called, Mario's Mirror Mania where he is divided into eight of them with many colors.

Biology

A Mario's best feature is his moustache, which keeps him cute and playful. While playing with him, you'll pull his moustache, stretch it back and let it go to drive him nuts. Just like Mario, his species use to jump, run, slide and kick their way. They probably hug and take care of each other while they have white gloves, along with their color. Marios also have eyes, these are related to Mario's. He himself has blue, and the others' have different colored, except for the others in Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Outfit Pigment

The color of their hat and shirt can be anything, even black and white. They can change their color by grabbing a fireflower, and yet their colors are related to Yoshis or the Neopets from the Neopets website. In the Super Smash Bros series, a player changes one of a Mario's five or six colors when they chose him. In the upcoming game Mario's Mirror Mania, Marios had abilities depending on their color and Mirror Mushrooms. If a Pink Mario gets a Mirror Mushroom, it could hurl love-hearts at foes. If a Green Mario gets a Mirror Mushroom, it could use earthquake. Their overalls' color is in conjuction with their clothes, except their pair of brown shoes; a red Mario has blue overalls, a blue Mario has pink overalls, ect.
