The Pig King Statue

The Pig King Statue is a boss in the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Although Sakurai lists it as a boss, it is not actually counted as a boss. In the Subspace Emissary, Lucas is visiting The Ruined Zoo, but after he sees the Pig King Statue, he runs away. Lucas must travel through the zoo avoiding the Pig King Statue with the help of the player. However, soon, he trips over, and just when he thinks it's over, Ness comes and uses PK Thunder and PK Flash to destroy the large statue. But once destroyed, it turns into Porky, an actual boss that is fought. Aside from the Subspace Emissary, the Pig King Statue also receives a trophy and gets to be in the background of the New Pork City stage.

Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

A guardian statue standing inside New Pork City that's clearly based on Porky himself. Investigate it, and the statue will turn hostile and start a battle. And it has 100,000,000 HP! It has very high stats, so you'll never win if you attack it straight-on. Thankfully, there's an item called "New Year's Eve" that can reduce its HP to 1--then you can defeat it with ease.

Trivia

  • To unlock a trophy of it, one must defeat Boss Battle on Very Hard difficulty.
  • In Mother 3, the original game that the Pig King hails from, one of the random effects of PK Flash is immediately destroying the enemy. This may be why it works so well for Ness in the cutscene. However, the player can't do this manually if they replay the stage as Ness - they must survive until the cutscene sequence.
  • In Mother 3, before being battled and in New Pork City in Brawl, it stands similarly to the Statue of Liberty in real-life.
  • Strangely,in Brawl, the Pig King Statue is much larger in the Subspace Emmisary than in the New Pork City stage. Also, much like in MOTHER 3,it appears to extend it's arms when attacking.
  • Another difference from MOTHER 3 is Porky being controlling the statue from inside, whereas in MOTHER 3 it appears to be independent without needing to be controlled.
