Hi
Hi Cobold! I made a new game on Userpedia and you're in it. (I know you're not a member on Userpedia but I wanted you to know) SJ derp :P

Only for asking, but there will be a sysop promotion soon? ¢oincoll€ctor
- That is actually a very good question. I still have to consider someone who would fit for the post. Our most requested candidate, Stooben Rooben, went on indefinite hiatus, so I'm here with rather empty hands. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:58, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
Could I be part of the sysophood? ¢oincoll€ctor If I cannot be yet, understood.
- Who knows? I don't...yet. =P But maybe I will in a few days. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:48, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
- Actually, there was quite a few suggestions made by the Sysop staff to promote you, CC. --Blitzwing 14:51, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
- Who? Where? When? I guess I'm not up to date about the personal chat here. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:54, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
- There is a "Sysop Only" Board on the forum. Coincollector was mentioned quite a few times in there. --Blitzwing 15:08, 16 June 2008 (EDT)
- I see. I wouldn't know, I haven't even got an account on the forum, and I'm not planning to get one. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:11, 16 June 2008 (EDT)

Super Mario RPG
SMRPG was rated for the PAL regions, so can post (EU) TBA and (AU) TBA on the article? SJ derp :P
- ZOMGYAYZ?! I NEED ZIS GAME! Would also be good to link a source for the rating. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:29, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- Here's the site I found it on. I'll add it on the article now. SJ derp :P
- Ah, the good ol' site with credibility issues. But that's their problem, not ours. We can add this as a valid reference. I still don't get how they are doing this, the original version didn't have European translations, and games which heavily rely on text (e.g. Paper Mario, but not SMB) get localized. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:35, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
- Here's the site I found it on. I'll add it on the article now. SJ derp :P
Uhhhhhh... I've been lazy, sorry. Haven't played MKWii in a while. ^^; And I just pre-ordered Super Smash Bros. Brawl today. My Bloody Valentine
Demotion
Since RAP and Porplemontage won't do it, can you PLEASE remove my Sysop powers? I'm so sick of being a Sysop now, it's become so damn annoying. Please demote me. My Bloody Valentine
Never mind, Steve already did it. My Bloody Valentine
No one said I was retiring. I was just resigning. I'm still here, and with Brawl's release next week, I'll be editing a bit more. ;) My Bloody Valentine
- Yeah, I see... :[ --

Normal Hammer
Normal Hammer is redirected to Hammer now, but "Normal Hammer" is still on the item page. Should we keep it there or remove it? SJ derp :P
- What item page? Items? I think redirects are allowed there. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:21, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
Mario Party article
On the article stated in the header, there is and image that is cutting into the info box. I've tried fixing it, but have failed every time. Do you know what to do? SJ derp :P
- I can't help you because I have blocked any advert images. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:26, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
- Or maybe I misunderstood. I tried fixing something with that gallery. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:30, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

- Yay. I don't really get the use of friend lists but if you like it, no problem. (I don't get the use of many other things though. :P) - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:44, 30 June 2008 (EDT)

The user in the header is a sockpuppet of a user named User:Blue Koop, who was a sockpuppet of a spammer named User:The Goomba. He did, however, write an apology, but I wanted to know what you think of this. SJ derp :P

Wait... hold up...
Am I seeing that you're a Princess Peach enthusiast as well? If so, I'm glad that you're also on the scene to get the truth in terms of Peach (and Daisy too). Biggest aggravation ever thanks to those MK: DD and MK Wii guides. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Enthusiast! 16:06, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
- "Enthusiast" would go a little too far. She's alright as a character and I play her in some more recent games. I chose the article to improve, but I didn't really get far and most of the work is done by our community, which is some great work and some really unneeded wars about little words in uninteresting guides. I don't see who can get so much excited about this.
- As long as nobody accepts the compromise, I'm carefully watching the article. It's my job to prevent flame and edit wars. I don't think I really contributed much to prevent wars in this case, I'm currently a bit inactive because of Brawl's release - I need to play the games in order to edit articles, after all. ;) - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:13, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

Yo Cobold, could you see the DK Summit article and see the foreign names section? looks like there's a prolem with this template (or the article has a problem?) ¢oincoll€ctor I see some problems with the templates, and I don't know how to solve the problem now...
- I've seen many templates problems today, they were mentioned on the Main Page talk. If you look at the top of my talk page, the part of pipe also isn't displaying. This seems to be a wiki-related problem, we will have to consult Steve. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:27, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
I guess the wiki needs an update by now, don't you think? :P
¢oincoll€ctor
"Steve-o where are thou?"
- OK donkey Cobold, Wayoshi fixed the problem :) now, your template is back.
Toadsworth: Uhhm
Peach's voice actor was Jen Taylor ever since the N64 days. Although many Mario characters have had voice changes in the far past and just recent;y, that does not lead me to agree with saying Peach's va changes often. Regardless, mentioning a characters current va in the opening is no issue. I myself know the Peach page is filled with tons of crappy and overdone information, but I don't see a problem with this sentence. FD09
Sorry, but: Don't talk about something you don't know enough about. Jen Taylor portrayed Peach until the end of the GameCube era.FD09
- Why is there a "Toadsworth" in the headline of this section? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:39, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
Just so you know:
The Troll that recently attacked has the exact same ip as Wayoshi. Deal appropriately with him. Of course, there's a chance that it may be a chat troll impersonating him... But Still. --Blitzwing 13:19, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
- Wayoshi's IP changes frequently, but it's still good to know. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:26, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
Speaking of it... Where exactly can I find out about users' IPs? I guess that question is a bit dumb for a sysop, but I have really no idea. Time Questions 13:30, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

Re: Awards Tourneys
- Knife said I was wrong about the limits, so I guess it's as many as we can get...I have a feeling not everyone will make, so if we end up with 16 that's great.
- The MKWii tourney will start at aboutt 2-3p EDT (UTC -5), making it 9-10p for you, still on August 8th. Depending on when we start it may go past 11p. When you get your individual round matchups for Brawl you can talk to your opponent for a good time.

Proposal for Promotion
Thank you for removing that proposal. I found it ridiculous for it to even be there, but I didn't know if I had the authority to remove it. — Stooben Rooben 18:22, 26 July 2008 (EDT)
- No problem. I thought it was even in the rulebook somewhere that proposals like that are not allowed. I can't find it now however, maybe we should add it somewhere to the Proposals page. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 18:24, 26 July 2008 (EDT)
Brawl
I saw your message on Knife's page and it's going to be a Stock with Time Limit On since the match could last a very long time, and I guess its also because of what is stated in the rules too :P. uper-Yoshi

Just Wondering
I know you probably hear this question a lot, but do you know if there will be any promotions soon? — Stooben Rooben 16:03, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Sockpuppets
Cobold, you may have noticed that many sockpuppets: The Wiki Goomba, The Baby Goomba, The F****** Goomba, The Goomboss, The Goombella, The Goomba Super Fast, The Tight Goomba, and The Golden Goomba That Is Not Silver have all appeared as new users on the Wiki and are ALL spamming. I'm Worried
I'm particularly concerned with this. Saudy (or someone who has hacked into his account) has threatened to spam/vandalize the wiki if Paper Jorge does not retire. And now Fg has also threatened to spam on Paper Jorge's talk page. I'm not sure if I'm being overtly worried about this, but it does seem to be a problem that needs solving. — Stooben Rooben 19:10, 16 August 2008 (EDT)
- I agree. That's why I came to you. Wayoshi blocked him, so I think everything will be all right now. I agree about Fg too; after that many bans, you'd think he would have learned not to do things like that. o_o — Stooben Rooben 20:35, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

Hi Cobold. The above user has several accounts on this wiki, as he admits on his user pages. Not sure what to do in his case. It appears he simply doesn't know about sockpuppetry being forbidden. But he also left votes on the Proposals page from his various accounts, and once even voted for the same option with two of his accounts. Is this a reason to block him? Flags
Hey Cobold, since you successfully have passed your proposal, adding those flags. I think we should install this template from Wikipedia; Template:Vgrelease It contains minimal writing of making the template work instead of writing, long image names. And it reduces work time so we can slot these faster. After a few tweaks, I think it should work. ^_^ Agree? RAP... This will help how we manage slotting release dates. ;p
- Good idea. The names are really too long. We should go for the template. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:09, 14 September 2008 (EDT)
I think you should upload two other flags for the wiki. China and South Korea. Though not sure of China, I think it may be somewhere around the wiki. And South Korea, per SMB article. RAP... Template is almost complete. ;)

We need your input!
Hey, Cobold. I'm sure you're aware, but you are a force on this Wiki, and so I really want your input on this, and hopefully your support. I recently posted the following on the Sysop Only Forum. I know you don't have an account, so I'm giving this to you here. Please let me know what you think... this post contains some background on the issue, so it should bring you up to date on what you missed on the forum.
If we are to do what we set out to with the canonicity thread, all of the sysops must be on the same page. Here’s a review of said thread:
In the canonicity thread, the following was established:
- There is no official canon.
- Accordingly, the Wiki should not endorse a canonicity policy or an unofficial canon.
- Our current article organization implies that the spin-offs and alternate media sources are non-canon because we have a “biography” section. This implies that the other sources did not happen in a character’s life. Organizing sources by release date under a “biography” heading also implies that MarioWiki:Chronology is official rather than unofficial.
- Therefore, we should sort the sources in a new manner: by type. The biography, spin-offs, and alternate media sections would be divided into: “Video Game Appearances,” “Television Series Appearances,” “Movie Appearance,” “Comic Book Appearances,” etc. Each section would then be subdivided into series. For example, video games would be subdivided into “Super Mario Series,” “Paper Mario Series,” “Mario Kart Series,” etc.
So, what we need to do now is have all sysops, including newcomer Rooben and non-forum member Cobold (I’ll talk with him), agree on one single version of a proposal. This proposal will outline the changes listed above in a clear manner and stress that these changes are being made in light of our non-conjectural canonicity policy (or lack thereof). Users who would oppose the proposal will be asked to describe in their oppose either (A) Why the current organization does not violate our canonicity policy. Opposers should not simply say that they personally are fine with the current article organization, but rather point out why it is more beneficial than the one we are proposing. (B) Another method of organization that could be used to not violate the canonicity policy.
However, we must admit that everyone is going to feel a slight twinge when they see this, because most people have an idea of canonicity already, usually related to the ideas described in MarioWiki:Chronology (this is because the series does have a chronology). So, in order to support the Mario series’ chronology without giving it a canon, I believe we should add the following to our proposal
- Unless a source explicitly occurred prior to another source within the section (ie Yoshi’s Island happens before Super Mario Bros.), sources should be organized by release date. This means that if the chronology is explicit (including character age), then it should be supported by article organization.
- NOTE: I’M VERY OPEN TO DROP THIS NEXT PART IF IT IS NOT LOGICAL OR IF YOU JUST DON’T LIKE IT. This next part is just to make this proposal easier to swallow. My goal by it is to make is so that users are more willing to support because it will make the change less drastic. Would it be possible to make a one-line template at the top of each source’s section? This template would just be text, or maybe be in an off-white box. It would have three links. On the left, it would link to the prior source’s section according to MarioWiki:Chronology, the next would link to MarioWiki:Chronology itself, and the last would link to the next source’s section according to MarioWiki:Chronology. This would allow people to jump from, for example, Luigi’s Mansion to Mario Party 3 back to Super Mario Sunshine back to Mario Party 4 and then to Game & Watch Gallery 4. So, people who believe in MK:Chronology will still be pleased. Again, this is a rather farfetched idea that would take a lot of effort, and I would be happy to drop it.
So, please discuss the above sections that I am going to write the proposal based on. Let the other sysops know that we need their help. Then, once everyone’s in agreement, I will write up the proposal and post it on this forum for everyone to dissect, edit, etc.
Cobold, thanks very much for your time and I look forward to your criticism and writing the proposal accordingly. Stumpers! 19:48, 30 September 2008 (EDT)
- Thanks for the input! I'm happy to keep you informed. One solution that might work for the issue of release dates would be to go by the list in MarioWiki:Chronology. Would that be supporting the conjecture made on that page too much? I think that if we link to it on each bar, people would soon be made aware that MK:Chronology makes conjecture where conjecture is needed... but still, since no one has answered the call to argue over where each source should go (I specifically asked for people to on MK:Chronology itself), basically what I wrote originally is still there. Perhaps we should write the proposal without it as one of the terms, and then at the very end say something like, "We could also do XYZ if this passed. Please mention your interest in this idea if you would like us to implement it." It's what I did with the SSB special moves with the inclusion of SSB moves templates.
- So, aside from your worries about the last part (which I also share), the other part you disagreed with was that we would include Yoshi's Island before Donkey Kong and such like that under the banner "Game Appearances." Many users are only going to care about the central series (example: Phoenix-Rider on the forums... I'm not sure who that is on the Wiki). That means that they are likely going to be fine with our proposal to separate it from the rest of the spin-offs and alternate media in the manner described. That alone should give us a substantial amount of votes. However, I could see these users disliking it if we go against the series' direct, confirmed continuity for the sake of organization. This idea is also going to go against the interests of Valient Comics and DiC TV show fans. Both series frequently reference back to events that occurred prior (usually "Back in Brooklyn"). Should we chose to prohibit placing such events first, we're going to make a bunch of users looking to tell the official story rather than history upset.
- So, what I'm asking is that we make some concessions to those users who like things the way they are now. Essentially, I want to be able to sell this to them as this: "Nothing is going to change except that each alternate media and spin-off is going to get more attention. The biography sections will only change such that Mario Pinball Land and DDR:Mario Mix and such games will be in another section from the main series." If we get this proposal passed, we'll be substantially closer to our goal of eliminating fanon from the Wiki. Perhaps after people are used to the new changes, then we can try a proposal that would take the articles further away from in-series continuity and closer to history by sorting appearances by series and date rather than by series and position in the series. I'm sure you are aware of this fact: you are more likely to get supporters for proposals if you break grandiose ideas into short proposals so that people can vote on each issue rather than opposing all ideas because they don't like one or more of them. I think, considering that we will have to worry for fly-by-night users (here for a month, gone the next) who believe there actually is a canon because they are new here, we should make this first proposal so that people are allowed to sort by confirmed continuity. Sound good? Stumpers! 16:53, 1 October 2008 (EDT)
- I'm wondering if we should split this into two parts. (1) Sorting everything by media and series. (2) Then placing each series in release date order rather than chronological order. By splitting this into two proposals, we're more likely to get the first part passed because of new users, such as IggyKoopa, who are/were not aware that the Super Mario series does not have a canon system. Stumpers! 14:40, 2 October 2008 (EDT)

Hello, Cobold! How are you today? — Stooben Rooben 12:44, 2 October 2008 (EDT)
- Glad to hear that. :) When I found out Nintendo was developing a new M&L game, I got really happy. I haven't played Partners it Time yet, but I absolutely love Superstar Saga! I'm too fond of the idea of the new DS doing away with the GBA slot though. :\ I'd rather Nintendo add something like the Virtual Console to the DS, that way you could buy old GB and GBC games. (I really miss Super Mario Bros. Deluxe...) So Nintendo's making a new Pikmin game? All the more reason for me to play the original then. — Stooben Rooben 16:12, 2 October 2008 (EDT)
