Variant of Magikoopa

Yellow Magikoopas (abbreviated as Y Magikoopa in Paper Mario) are yellow-robed Magikoopas that primarily appear in the Super Mario role-playing games.

History

Paper Mario

In Paper Mario, Yellow Magikoopas can electrify their allies, making them immune to direct attacks. In addition to wearing yellow robes, they are depicted having blue shoes, with blue jewels for their magic wands.

In battle, Yellow Magikoopas can electrify one of their allies at a time, but otherwise fire a magic blast or strike Mario with their magic wand, both attacks dealing three points of damage. Sometimes Yellow Magikoopas ride brooms, but this does not affect their stats in any way, except hammer attacks will miss. When alone, they flee from battle.

Yellow Magikoopas appear in Flower Fields and the Crystal Palace, but like other types of Magikoopa, are never found outside of battle. A Yellow Magikoopa along with three Lakitus acts as a mid-boss of Flower Fields, thus the player has to defeat them since they are keeping Mario from destroying the Puff Puff Machine.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, their abilities are given to Green Magikoopas.

In Mario Superstar Baseball, a Yellow Magikoopa can be chosen as an alternate costume of a Magikoopa. This returns in Mario Super Sluggers and Mario Sports Superstars.

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition

Yellow Magikoopas appear in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition as Light-attribute enemies, found primarily in the towers of World 8, first appearing in World 8-Tower 1.

As an enemy, a Yellow Magikoopa attacks by firing a blast of electricity at the screen, inflicting Light damage to the player's team. Their Skill, Light Trick, changes all Dark and Heart Orbs on the Orb field into Light Orbs. When defeated, it may occasionally drop a large Coin worth 100 coins or a Grand Light Block of itself. It will always drop a Spiky Shell when defeated with a 10+ Combo attack.

Yellow Magikoopas can be found in World 8-Tower 1, World 8-Tower 2 (as part of the boss battle with the four other Magikoopa types), World 8-Tower 3, and World 8-Bowser's Castle.

As teammates, Yellow Magikoopas have an HP rating of 5/6, an ATK rating of 5/6, and a RCV rating of 1/6. Their Max Lv. is 99. Their Light Trick Skill functions the same as it does when they appear as enemies. Yellow Magikoopas use Spiky Shells and Grand Spiky Shells to raise their Skill levels. Yellow Magikoopas may give RCV+ bonuses to other teammates when being depowered. Their Awoken Skill, Skill Boost, reduces the amount of turns required to first use Skills when entering a course.

Other forms

In version 2.0 of Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, the player can transform a Yellow Magikoopa into three other forms in which another Magikoopa accompanies it: Yellow/Green Magikoopas, Yellow Magikoopas, and Yellow/Purple Magikoopas. All three forms share the same Skill and Skill Item requirements, and have an HP rating of 5/6, an ATK rating of 5/6, and an RCV rating of 1/6 (with the exception of Yellow/Green Magikoopas, which has an RCV rating of 2/6).

Yellow/Green Magikoopas can be created by transforming a Yellow Magikoopa with six Super Leaves. This duo is a Yellow/Wood attribute teammate, and its Awoken Skill, Twin Target, raises ATK and attacks two foes for each of this ally's attributes that the player clears four Orbs for.

Yellow Magikoopas can be created by transforming a Yellow Magikoopa with six Super Mushrooms. This duo is a Light/Light attribute teammate, and its Awoken Skill, Light Boost, raises ATK of the player's Light attribute teammates when they clear a horizontal line of Light Orbs.

Yellow/Purple Magikoopas can be created by transforming a Yellow Magikoopa with six Boo Mushrooms. This duo is a Light/Dark attribute teammate, and shares the same Awoken Skill as Yellow/Green Magikoopas.
