Gareth Coker is a British composer who is well known for composing the games in the Ori series. He made his Mario-related composition debut with Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope in 2022.
Career
Coker started playing the piano at a young age. He played in the school orchestra and jazz band, and he then attended the Royal Academy of Music to major in composition. He spent three years living and travelling overseas in Japan, where he studied several ethnic instruments[1] and taught English[2]. Later, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he split his time between the film scoring program at the University of Southern California and writing music for video games[3][4]. Alan Silvestri's work on Forrest Gump and Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter served as inspirations for Coker to pursue a career as a composer.[5]
