Writing style

Hi, and welcome to the wiki! When writing on articles, please remember though that they should be kept in a professional and encyclopedic tone. That means avoiding language as if you're "talking" directly to the reader commonly found in strategy guides and walkthroughs, with phrases like "Don't be afraid to...", and emphasis with exclamation points. We also write in third-person, so please avoid using the word "you"; instead, use "the player". More information can be found here. Suggestions for new pages

I'll take this into perspective for my next edit. Plus, I have got a suggestion for my next edit - I want to make an article listing all the quotes from Mario Party 10 (Since there is no page for that yet). I need to know how I can create that. 13:07, 2 June 2018 (AEST)

Great! Just search "List of Mario Party 10 quotes" and click on the red link (alternatively, click here). However, you need to be autoconfirmed before you can create articles (i.e. you must have an account for at least five days and made at least four edits, so you're just one edit away). Hey, nice job so far! Keep in mind that game titles need to be in italics. It's easy - all you have to do is place two pairs of apostrophes in between the text you want italicized (ex: ''Mario Party 10''). Also, be sure to add a navigation template at the bottom from this list depending on the game (it would be {{MP10}} in this case), then add a category at the bottom as well (in this case, it would be Category:Mario Party 10). No other issues are present, so keep up the good work! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:44, 2 June 2018 (EDT)

Hey Toadette The Achiever! Thank you for your edit before. You know, I think this should be a page for all of us to work on. 1:53 P.M, 3 June 2018

Thanks! And, er, exactly. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:00, 3 June 2018 (EDT)

References

Umm... I wanted to know how I can add new references to pages like Mario Tennis Aces. I found a website showing all playable Defensive and Powerful characters. How do I add that? 2:03 P.M, 3 June 2018

To do inline citations, just add <ref>...</ref> at the point in the article where you want the citation to show up, replacing the "..." with the actual source itself. Hope that helps! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:09, 3 June 2018 (EDT)
Darn, got edit sniped :P More information can be found at MarioWiki:Citations, so give that a look. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:10, 3 June 2018 (EDT)
Oh, uh, what is the site? It looks like we already have all the available information. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:15, 3 June 2018 (EDT)

Image category reminder

Hello, Gameboy2345. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hi, regarding File:Mario tennis aces character selection.jpg, please also be sure to properly license it, as that is legally required for attribution. Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:52, 3 June 2018 (EDT)

Hello, Gameboy2345. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

To go with the above. Please remember to categorize and fill out the aboutfile (or remove the aboutfile completely) correctly for your future uploads. Also, be sure to add the appropriate licensing from the drop box window as well. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:56, 24 June 2018 (EDT)

Ribbon Fling

The page(s) you recently created (Ribbon Fling) has/have been put up for deletion, has been deleted, or turned into a redirect. This may be because it violated at least one of the policies and/or guidelines of the Super Mario Wiki. There are some things you can do to ensure this doesn't happen again.
  1. Make sure there is no other article about the same subject with a different title, especially for conjectural articles.
  2. Make sure the article has enough information to make it a worthwhile read (i.e. it does more than state the obvious, such as "Luigi's Mansion is a mansion that is owned by Luigi"). Overly short articles are known as stubs and their creation is strongly discouraged; it is better to amass enough information to make a solid article right off the bat instead.
  3. Make sure the article is significant enough in the Super Mario franchise to have its own article.

If the article has only been tagged to be deleted you can still fix or expand it, but an administrator may delete it at any time, so please act quickly. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing!

When creating a new article, please remember to follow the guidelines outlined in the Manual of Style, including bolding the subject's name, italicising game titles (as you've already been reminded above), categories and templates. Your article was also deleted because creating an article for each individual character's Trick Shot would be unnecessary, since the only differences between them are the animations, which themselves are too short and not significant enough to deserve separate articles (not to mention they have no official names). I would suggest creating a single article for Trick Shot instead, then listing the variations for each character. Since you're new here, it might be worth your time to look over Help:Contents as well, as there's a lot of information useful for editing and creating new pages found there. Thanks. Also, remember to keep the tone of the information formal, as mentioned above. Avoiding colloquial phrases like "The greater the risk, the greater the reward," and while the Trick Shot is indeed useful, you don't need to describe it as "this useful trick" in the article, when simply saying "the Trick Shot" will do. Under construction

You can't use mainspace templates like {{construction}} on userpages, sorry. You can, however, copy the code for the template on the template page and add it to your userpage (you can even modify the text and colour as well), but otherwise the template transclusion needs to be removed. Back after some time away!

I know it's been a while, but now I'm back after quite a long time away. Also, you may have seen a user named GameBoy2936, that was the same person (myself), I just forgot my username and password. I remember my past username/password now, though, so I'll make sure I can remember my login details in the future.

In the meantime, I have been engaging in various Mario games, and I can tell by heart I'm really excited about upcoming games such as Super Mario Maker 2 and Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

I can hope that I can still be able to help out to the wiki and contribute, even though I have been quite a while away from the wiki.

List of MKT quotes

We have a page dedicated to the entire series, due to many of them being recycled throughout the series. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:49, September 27, 2019 (EDT)
