The title of this article is conjectural; an official name for the article's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an official name is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.

Template:Item-infobox Cat Flingers are tall blue springs topped by an orange sphere that appear in the Bowser's Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They allow Mario to propel himself forwards a great distance. By climbing the blue spring of the Cat Flinger to reach the top, Mario will perform a handstand, similarly to when he climbs poles and trees. From the top, the player can pull leftstick backwards, and aim with it and rightstick. When leftstick is released, Mario will be sent flying forwards, and once he touches the ground, he will automatically dash for a short amount of time. While leftstick is pulled back, the player can press B to cancel the action and allow Mario to fall to the ground without being flinged.

Most Cat Flingers are placed consecutively to help reach a Cat Shine. To complete the mission "Gazing over the Falls", Mario must fling between four Cat Flingers to reach an island in the sky. To complete "Toad Brigade: Cuddly Castaway", he must fling between three Cat Flingers (with an optional one to the side housing a Super Bell in a Bubble) to reach and rescue Banktoad. Additionally, one Cat Flinger is placed near the Ruins Giga Bell, one is on the floating island where the "Gazing Down at the Islands" Cat Shine is collected, and two consecutive Cat Flingers are placed to the northeast of Clawswipe Colosseum.

Cat Flingers can also appear on top of every lighthouse across Lake Lapcat. By collecting the five Cat Shines of an island, a Cat Flinger will appear atop the island's lighthouse and raise a golden flag that has cat ears and Mario's emblem on it. These flags resemble those of Goal Poles and Checkpoint Flags.

Boomerang Mario or Fire Mario can throw a boomerang or fireball, respectively, at a Cat Flinger to make it sway back and forth for a brief moment; the amount it sways is dependent on whether the projectile hits the Cat Flinger's base, center, or top.[1]
