Pumpkin Head

Pumpkin Head is the conjectural name of an enemy from Super Mario Galaxy. They are found near a haunted house level and resemble Splunkins, but they are actually Goombas wearing jack o' lanterns. They are found mainly in the Ghostly Galaxy.
They are defeated the same away as a Goomba except Mario must first break the Jack o'Lantern before Star Spinning on the Goomba and then kicking him.
The species is probably a reference to Super Mario World. In that game, if you finish Star Road, the Goombas will then wear pumpkin masks as these do.
This odd species was also seen in New Super Mario Bros. and was usually found Ghost Houses. They were also a common enemy in world 8-1. By jumping on the Pumpkin Head, the head cracks open and the creature would then run at double the speed. By ground-pounding the creature, it automatically disappears. By throwing a fireball at it, it dies.
