Perhaps this could be made into a list form, or preferably merged with List of characters by game with an asterisk convention to show they are playable.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 03:14, August 21, 2020 (EDT) But in this list it shows in how many games each one of these playable characters is playable so far, the first game in which each one of them is playable and the latest game in which each one of them is playable. The problem is that not in all article there is a proper table that shows their appearances clearly. List of characters by game is a list of characters by their first appearance. I honestly don't think this article is necessary either. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8
Agreed this list is unnecessary, the category page serves this purpose. If someone wants to add or check the number of playable appearances they've made and their earliest/latest ones, or check the playable characters in a game, they do it on the individual articles or follow the subcategory links, because this list will become way too long and be filled with many one-off appearances.
I don't think merging to List of characters by game would work either since that only lists characters debuting in each game, so not all playable characters would be indicated. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:33, August 21, 2020 (EDT)

Unlike the category, this list includes only the most common playable characters. I also request to add the information wherever there is a question mark. Wherever there is a question mark there should be an informaion that I can't write myself. Orhoshmand (talk) 08:37, August 21, 2020 (EDT)

I still think it's unnecessary because as I said, this information can go on the individual articles. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:48, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
There are two conditions to include a character in this list:
  • The character appeared as a playable character in at least 20 games so far.
  • The character appeared as a playable character in at least 10 new games from the last 5 years.

I really don't see the point of this page. If a proper definition of playable character is needed, it can just go on MarioWiki:Glossary. Including every playable character on this page is essentially what the category is for, number of playable appearances can just go on the other character's pages, and if we went with the guidelines you listed above, it would be very hard to keep an eye on, particularly the second one- would a character get removed from the list if we went over the five-year mark for their tenth most recent playable appearance? Other things would need to be questioned as well, like properly deciding which artworks are used, or we're going to end up with a very inconsistent set over time. The exact guidelines for things like this would also need to be established with some community agreement as well. I just this page just seems to be trying to solve a problem that isn't there and the upkeep would be more trouble than it's worth. BBQ Turtle (talk) 10:56, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
Agreed. There is no point to this page. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 11:05, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
Absolutely. There would additionally be the problem of what truly constitutes a "playable" appearance. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:08, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
This article is intended to show the most common playable characters in Mario franchise, in how many games each one of them appeared as a playable character, and what is the first and the latest appearance of each character as a playable character. The artworks are just copied from the infobox in the article of each character. Orhoshmand (talk) 11:21, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
Like others have said, that can be shown on each individual article, and most of them also have a table with all their appearances, and even indicates which ones they are playable in. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8
There is still no table of appearances in Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, Bowser and Koopa Troopa, and in the table in Mario Mario's role in each game is not writted, and the number of games in which each character appears as a playable character so far is not written anywhere, and I also wanted to write what are the most common playable characters in Mario franchise. Orhoshmand (talk) 11:42, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
Then a table of playable appearances can be added, or in Mario's case expanded. Which characters are "most commmon"ly playable is very subjective, and isn't something you could easily cover as there are plenty of ways to look at it. And the number of playable appearances doesn't necessarily have to be explicitly written somewhere- if the table is well-formatted and inclusive, you could simply go through and count the number of playable appearances. This is not the type of page that falls in our coverage. The redirect to the Glossary, as it is currently, works better. We do not need a list of every playable character when the categories exist, and the two conditions you outlined are completely arbitrary. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:32, August 21, 2020 (EDT)

This list is not intended to include every single playable character in Mario franchise unlike the category, it's just intended to include the most common playable characters in Mario franchise, in how many games each one of them is playable, what is the first game in which each one of them is playable and what is the latest game in which each one of them is playable. Each character has to be playable in at least 20 games so far and in at least 10 new games from the last 5 years in order to appear in this list. Orhoshmand (talk) 11:47, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
Again, those specifics are arbitrary. Who decided that? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:49, August 21, 2020 (EDT)
