Aren't these Melon Guys?--Dreyfus2006 06:00, 12 June 2007 (EDT)

You're right; we have an article both here and at Melon Guy. I've never heard them referred to as "Melon Guy", but then again, I've only heard "Stretch" from themushroomkingdom.net... Well, seeing as this page is slightly longer than Melon Guy, I'll just redirect that here until we figure out which name is official. YELLOWYOSHI398

In SMW Central, the Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island manual says it's name is Stretch.

Reference in Smash Bros?

I was reading an article about their trophies and came across this: "Those white masks are just eerie, but it's possible they are better than what actually hides behind them... Anyway, some people claim to have seen tall Shy Guys with longer masks than normal. In Smash Run, yellow Shy Guys are great jumpers, so they'll drop Jump stat boosts when defeated." When I read this, I automatically thought of Stretch guys. Does anybody else think that it is possible that this was a reference? 108.196.88.239

There isn't any other Shy Guys like Stretch Guy, so it's likely that it's a reference. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:10, 10 September 2015 (EDT)

Why isn't this page called "Stretch (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island)"? You could argue that it's because Yoshi's Island was remade, but there exists the article Spiny (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest) as well, using a game identifier. Boo Stretches don't appear in Yoshi's Island and Shy Guy Stretches don't appear in any games besides Yoshi's Island, so I'm not sure why this page doesn't use a game identifier. Looking at page history, it was done for consistency with Stretch, which had just been moved from Stretch (Super Mario Bros. 3) to Stretch (Boo) due to Stretches appearing in more than just Super Mario Bros. 3. Now that the identifier was removed from that page, though, it's less justified now. Niiue - Who has lost his tail? 01:49, December 11, 2019 (EST)
I stand by my "not giving people carpal tunnel syndrome as that's friggin' life-wreaking just because the people who localized the game decided to give it an overly long title for no freakin' reason" reasoning. That alone is justification. Additionally, Spiny above has no base species aside from just "porcupine." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:53, December 11, 2019 (EST)
And I stand by my "use the redirects to deal with your carpal tunnel syndrome" reasoning. No-one's saying that "Stretch (Shy Guy)" can't be a redirect to "Stretch (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island). Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 08:01, December 11, 2019 (EST)
As the person who moved the page in the first place (mainly for consistency), I wouldn’t have a problem with moving the page back now that Stretch no longer has the “Boo” identifier. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 08:08, December 11, 2019 (EST)
According to Naming, we go by what the subject is, and then by game title. Shouldn't the current identifier be fine in that case? LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:46, December 11, 2019 (EST)
