Kart Images
Hey, the art in the infoboxes for kart pages, for example, Standard MR, should be an image of just the kart itself, unless said image does not exist. In this case, the image does exist, so please stop changing it and other similar pages. However, you can include the artwork of characters in the kart in a gallery on the page. 11:48, 10 July 2017 (EDT)

You are still ignoring what I said above. Continue to do so and you will be blocked. 12:34, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
- For a different issue, the course articles infoboxes should have the image of their first appearance, as their later appearances are covered in later sections with the relevant images and coverage.

Banisher
The only "resemblance" the Banisher has to the other karts is that it looks like a character. Piranha Prowler and the Bowser Bike would also be classified similarly if that were the case, and it's not. 18:27, 4 August 2017 (EDT)
- The exact way the head with the two lumped-up eyes and no lower jaw actually does make it look pretty similar, in my opinion. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:31, 4 August 2017 (CT)
- The point being, does Dry Bones bear a resemblance to Yoshi or Birdo? No.
18:35, 4 August 2017 (EDT)
- Yes? The head shape is strikingly similar, with that large nose and twin lumped eyeholes. Yoshi was initially intended to be a type of Koopa, after all. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:46, 4 August 2017 (CT)
- The point being, does Dry Bones bear a resemblance to Yoshi or Birdo? No.
Italics
Hey, just to let you know when writing game titles, they should be italicized. This is done by typing two apostrophes on both sides of the name. For example Mario Kart
becomes Mario Kart. 18:09, 13 August 2017 (EDT)
Unnecessary changes
I don't know what you're trying to accomplish with switching the images around in the kart infoboxes, specifically for Standard Kart, but there really is no reason to change them. If you're trying to see how the images look in the infoboxes, just look at the image itself, no need to swap it out. 11:49, 17 August 2017 (EDT)
- There is especially no need to edit war over the infobox pictures either. As Alex said, changing them accomplishes nothing, so just leave them be, as all you're doing is flooding the recent changes with useless edits. Yoshi876 (talk)
Karts brought back
Aren't karts brought back supposed to be images of their first instead of later appearances. User|Cosmic Flare
- If their later appearance is a better image and shows the most recent appearance, then we use that.

Also, the reason why the Standard MR's handling is its weak stat is because it is the lowest number. User|Cosmic Flare
Userboxes
All info here. The coding for my friend box is: 16:23, 17 August 2017 (EDT)
All right, thanks. :D User|Cosmic Flare
It worked, but the image just say {code}. I typed the code properly. What did I do wrong? User|Cosmic Flare
Hello! To fix that, I believe you would need to add =
in between the word "code" and the image. Also, you should sign you comments by adding ~~~~
at the end of it, which would link to your userpage and add a timestamp at the end. You can also create a personalized signature by following the tutorial on Help:Signature and the rules on MarioWiki:Signatures. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 16:39, 17 August 2017 (EDT)
RE:Standard MR
Most of the Mario Kart DS images you can locate at Gallery:Mario Kart DS. I'm assuming you mean this image of the title screen and this image of the sprite model. Both are fine to add to the gallery, imo.
I don't know what you mean by the second point. Standard MR already has handling as its weakest stat. 16:45, 17 August 2017 (EDT)
Alex 95, I added the Standard MR sprite, but when I got back on Standard MR, The title screen of Mario was added in the gallery. Did you add that in? User|Cosmic Flare
OK then. Thanks for the help. User| Cosmic Flare
Ok, I'll do that now. User|Cosmic Flare Alex95, I tried to swap Mario's image with the Standard MR itself, and it disappeared! What happened? What did I do? :O User|Cosmic Flare
- Fixed it. When plugging images into a gallery, you have to omit the usual image coding. Just the file name and the type (i.e "StandardKartMR.png") will do.

Standard WL
Alex95, I am trying to create a gallery with images of the Standard WL, (most for them on the page Waluigi Pinball
1. How do I create a gallery?
2. Is a gallery needed for the Standard WL page?
3. Can you help me?
User|Cosmic Flare
- To make a gallery, you type <gallery>(indent)Insert image here(indent)repeat if needed(indent)</gallery>. "<>" inputs a code that the wiki reads and turns it into what is requested.
- Probably not.
- Already did :)
Previewing your edits
I just wanted to remind you that you can click "Show preview" to preview your edits before saving them. That way, you can avoid stuff like this. In the event that a mistake slips through anyway, mark the correction(s) as minor. 18:38, 17 August 2017 (EDT)
Please stop forgetting to proofread your edits on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
You're still doing this. I'll say it again: Use the preview button to double check your edits before you make them. That way, you do not clutter edit histories and the recent changes page with useless edits. 20:07, 31 August 2017 (EDT)
Standard Karts Stats in Mario Kart DS
The standard karts stats in Mario Kart DS, isn't it supposed to be the highest number the strongest? For example, the Standard RB's strong stat is speed because it is the highest and drift being weakest because it is the lowest. User|Cosmic Flare
So is highest number being its strongest and so on? Cosmic Flare
So does that mean the Standard Karts in Mario Kart DS has to be changed to its highest and weak stat? Cosmic Flare
- Looking at the Standard Kart pages, they already appear to be marked correctly.

Gold Mantis
I found a sprite for the Gold Mantis. How do I upload it? Cosmic Flare
- Special:Upload. Be sure to fill out the about file template and categorize correctly.

Ok, well, having problems. How to get the image for you.
Step 1. Type in Mario kart ds gold mantis sprite.
Step 2. Click on the second image of Gold Mantis.
Step 3. Look at the 5th image.
Final Step. Upload it.
You are welcome! :D Cosmic Flare
OK, I am really stuck here. Please help. Cosmic Flare
- Is this the image you're talking about?
20:16, 31 August 2017 (EDT)
Yep, that's the one. What's the source URL name? Cosmic Flare
- Just call the image something like "Gold Mantis Sprite" and list the source as http://www.guiasnintendo.com.
20:21, 31 August 2017 (EDT)
Thanks Cosmic Flare
- Good attempt with the upload. Here's some information to help your future uploads:
Hello, Cosmic Flare. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. A description of the image subject (parameter |
Hello, Cosmic Flare. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, images related to the game Super Mario World would use: or one it its subcategories. Media files would use: Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
User templates
How do I create a template, like some users? Cosmic Flare
- User:Cosmic Flare/sig
- Saw you add your signature to your page, but you first have to create it. Click that link, create your signature (and make sure it fits in the sigbox below), then go into your preferences under "Signature" include into the box.

Standard Kart
Is Mario's standard kart artwork in Mario Kart DS supposed to be Mario with the Standard MR? Cosmic Flare
Photo Editor
So Alex 95, I edited Mario's standard kart to make it look like Luigi's standard kart. It said for the Standard LG, Standard PC, Standard YS, Standard TD, Standard DK, Standard WR, Standard BW, Standard DS, Standard DB, Standard WL, Standard RB and Standard SG to match the image for the Standard MR. Should I add it in as its image or in the gallery? Cosmic Flare
- No. The images should be of ripped models, not an edited variant of the Standard MR image.
- Also, yes to the above question, I didn't see that earlier. Since the other images surrounding it in the gallery are of the character and their kart, Mario's should be the same.
12:40, 1 September 2017 (EDT)
All right, but there are no existing images for Standard LG, Standard PC, Standard YS, Standard TD, Standard DK, Standard BW, Standard WR, Standard DB, Standard DS, Standard WL, Standard RB and Standard SG ripped models. Only the artworks. Cosmic Flare
By the way, can't anyone make a ripped model of their standard karts. Cause really no one stands a chance here. Cosmic Flare
Yeah, but it would look like their standard kart, but driven by Mario. And besides, this is the best I can do. Cosmic Flare
