Category talk:Ice creatures
...what the hell just happened!? Davidk92 15:02, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- Errr.... what?
- I just spent a good portion of my time working on a category for the ice enemies in Mario, and filling it up. I take a break, and when I come back, the name's changed and I've been completely wiped from the history. I demand an explanation. D:< Davidk92 15:49, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- The name was changed. It isn't possible to move categories, so the old had to be deleted and a new to be created. And noone from the old shows up in the history of the new category. Remember, anyone can edit, and by creating content here, you are risking that it is changed somehow. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:12, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- So I do all the work and this "Sir Grodus" guy gets all the credit. Is that it? Davidk92 16:17, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- Not entirely. You're still in the history of every page where you have added the category to. But if you want to promote the work you're doing, the history of a page is not the right place. Please do so on your User Page if you have to. That's partly what it can be used for. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:19, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- I don't want to promote it, but I want to let everyone know that it was me who started this thing. Now, everyone's gonna praise whoever the **** that "Sir Grodus" is for this, and I'm gonna get pushed aside! And I am sick of that happening! Davidk92 16:23, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- 1. Swearing is monitored. There are little children around.
- 2. This is not as important as you are putting it. Sir Grodus is the wiki's top contributor by far, he won't get any additional praise for it. At the same time, you have made pretty clear here that the idea was from you.
- - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:43, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- 1. Since when has "hell" been a swear word?
- Och, you know what? Forget it. If this Sir Grodus is as wonderful as you say, he can have the topic. I don't care anymore. Davidk92 17:11, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- For goodness sakes, what is the big deal!? He moves it, so what? Just gives you more enjoyment in editing the pages again so they have this category. :D My Bloody Valentine
- "The big deal" is that my topic has been stolen! And, maybe you freaks are different, but I don't enjoy it when my work is being attributed to0 someone else, I'm not a bleeding ghostwriter! >:( Davidk92 18:09, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
- I didn't make any comment on Sir Grodus's "wonderful"ness. I don't know him. I only know he leads the UserScore. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 17:12, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

The definition of "Ice Creature" here seems pretty loose in comparison to say, Category:Poisonous Creatures. We aren't classifying Snufit, Monty Mole, or Swoop as poisonous because they're found in the toxic maze of Hazy Maze Cave, why should we count Moneybag, Pompy, and many examples of penguins as Ice Creatures? They aren't made of ice, they don't utilize ice in any way, and many of them aren't even found around ice. The whole thing is a misnomer. It should solely refer to creatures made of ice, or that use ice to attack. This also applies to Category:Fire Creatures in regards to fire. If this succeeds, the tenuously-included "creatures that live around ice" will be removed from here, and the same will go for the fiery counterpart (unless that requires a separate proposal).

Out of curiosity, do Snow Guys make the cut? They're not ice-based creatures themselves, but they throw snowballs to attack. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:55, 24 August 2017 (EDT)
- Yes, Snow Guys and Penguin Mario would both still count, since they utilize ice, and as such are intrinsically linked to ice, with the same going for Ice Bro. and Skowl. I consider that to be ice-based, while things like Bumpty only have the habitat, and therefore are not "ice creatures." I'm basing how I want this done off of how Category:Electrical Creatures and Category:Poisonous Creatures work (as well as the "Protoplasmic and slime-using enemies" on my projects page); they either are related by composition or by attack. Not by locale. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:24, 24 August 2017 (CT)
