Whale (character)
The Whale is, well, a large whale that floats up to Toad Town's docks in Paper Mario. After the first few chapters you can see it sleeping with the top of his body sticking out of the water. The locals in the area think it's some sort of island. When you finish the 4th Chapter ( Shy Guy's Toy Box ) go to the docks to see the whale right next to a peir. Stand on him and spin jump a few times. He'll tell Mario he has a stomach-ache, and ask him to go inside to see what's wrong. Fuzzipede will be inside and you must fight him with Watt. Afterwards the whale will give you a ride with Kolorado to Lavalava Island and Chapter 5.
He can take you to and from Lavalava Island and acts the same as Cortez's ship the Black Skull in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
