Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is an upcoming game for the Wii U. It will be released on Holiday 2014. The game is based off The Adventures of Captain Toad, but with added depth and variety. A trailer has been released with its announcement.

Gameplay

Captain Toad controls the same as in The Adventures of Captain Toad minigames from Super Mario 3D World, and cannot jump. He can pick up turnips and throw them at enemies in a Super Mario Bros. 2 fashion. The camera can be rotated in any direction to view the stage at different angles. Each stage will also have 3 diamonds to collect, similar to Green Stars.

  • Mushy Monument Mayday:
  • A grass-themed stage with many rocks and a mushroom in the middle of the stage, with Shy Guys surrounding it. There is a small cave with a Gemstone and a Power Star is located on top of a rock after a series of blocks movable with the Gamepad (similar to the ones found in Puffprod Peaks in Super Mario 3D World.
  • A night stage with snow falling on a train with blocks movable with the Gamepad with a neon glow.
  • A stage outside of a tower with Piranha Plants, Magikoopas and Clear Pipes. There is a locked door.
  • A canyon stage with a Cart, Piranha Plants and Biddybuds.
  • A haunted stage with Boos and Goombas.
  • A water stage with swimming Goombas and Warp Pipes.
  • A ruins stage with Walleyes and Coins.
  • A cave where Captain Toad can use a pickaxe, Brick Blocks and Piranha Creepers.
  • A volcano stage with a dragon boss.
