Big Ben is a famous bell in the Houses of Parliament, London, although the term is often used to refer to the clock tower that houses the bell (which is officially known as Elizabeth Tower, renamed from Clock Tower in 2012). Luigi visits Big Ben when he travels to London in Mario is Missing!. Koopa Troopas have stolen Big Ben's minute hand, which is 14 feet long, and Luigi has to find it and return it to the landmark. Upon success, he is rewarded 1,200 dollars, plus a bonus of 2,400 dollars if he returns it first. In the trailer for Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog are seen standing on top of Big Ben.

Big Ben, the symbol of England, is located in the Houses of Parliament, England's Capitol Hill. It's officially called the Palace of Westminster, originally the palace of Edward the Confessor. At the north end of Parliament is the Clock Tower, 320 feet high. The face of the Tower's clock is enormous: the minute hands alone are 14 feet long. Although most people believe the clock itself is Big Ben, that distinction goes to the tower's 13 ton bell, which strikes the hour and lets London know all is well.
