I don't believe this have ever been officially stated, but it is implied. -- Son of Suns

I really think the "P" stands for Power, because, in SMB3, the P-Wing keeps the Power bar full for the entire level. ThePremiumYoshi 09:51, 23 November 2011 (EST)

I agree. Bro Hammer (TalkCont) 10:20, 28 November 2011 (EST)

Where's the source for the P being Paratroopa Wing? I never saw anything about Power Wing either. --Glitchy Missingno.jpeg SuperfiremarioGlitchy Missingno.jpeg 09:58, 11 February 2012 (EST)

From Iwaka Asks: New Super Mario Bros. Wii[1], among other places: "Nakago: I'm not sure who came up with the name, but we all referred to this as “the runway”. So at that point, we looked again at the maps and completely reworked the levels so that Mario would have places where he could take off from. In the end, we made it so that if you got an item called the P-Wing, which was the Koopa Paratroopa's wing, you could fly through the whole level." Sduggie2t 10:52, 26 June 2012 (EDT)

Luigi can get it

In Super Mario 3D Land, if you skip any levels in the normal world (and there are at least a dozen you can), then play them for the first time as Luigi, then this item and the Invincibility Leaf can and will appear. I'm going to change both pages, but I figured I should say why first.SidStarkiller 13:46, 28 March 2012 (EDT)

This is already stated in the article. DaShroom (talk · edits) 17:53, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
