Slide
Slope Slide (sometimes called Sliding Down a Slope or Slide) is a move used by Mario and Luigi when they duck on a slope. This move first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 and later in Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros.., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and New Super Mario Bros. 2. Peach also utilizes this ability in Super Princess Peach. The character sits down and slides down the hill while gaining speed, and is invincible to most enemies. In some levels, it can be dangerous to Slope Slide, because going so fast down a slope may lead to an abyss.
In Super Mario World, it is also possible to slide a hill up by ducking while running it upwards. Blue Beach Koopas are also capable of sliding against Mario. In fact, it is the first enemy encountered in the game.
Trivia
- Frog Mario and Hammer Mario cannot Slope Slide.
- When sliding down icy slopes, Mario will gain even more speed when compared to regular slopes.
- Mario can do a midair jump by sliding into midair and jumping.
