Please stop changing this image to make it cropped. The older one is better because it's much more bigger and has better quality. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC

That's true, but your one is a major decrease in size. Your image of the Kritter was reasonable (because that was just a small decrease in size), but don't do it for the DK one. The older one is much more bigger and has better quality. If you continue I may have to give you a reminder or warning. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC

Compression

  • Whenever I use The GIMP to make PNG images, I set its compression to the maximum level. You can also greatly drop the file size of a PNG image by removing its Alpha Layer. However, this should only be done if the image has no transparency. You can also index PNG images to greatly drop their size, but this action should only be done with video game sprites and images that have 256 colors or less, and there is a drawback in that indexed images can only keep "1" transparent color; a fatal flaw for images that use multiple transparent colors. To finish up, there is a PNG compressor program that I overheard, which is called the PNG Monster. That can compress PNG images even further, but it's quite slow with the large PNG images.
Basically, experiment with the PNG image format, and how it handles its compression options. RedYoshiMK7Signature.png M&SG (talk) 13:03, 21 July 2011 (EDT)
  • The GIMP is an image editing program that's similar to Adobe Photoshop. It is compatible with PCs and Macs. RedYoshiMK7Signature.png M&SG (talk) 16:42, 21 July 2011 (EDT)
