Template:Infobox Super Mario (working title), is an upcoming game based on the Super Mario Bros. franchise for the Nintendo 3DS. It is being created by the same development team that worked on Super Mario Galaxy series, being part of Nintendo EAD Tokyo. The game will be an entirely new Mario game. Super Mario for Nitendo 3DS is very much like one of the Mario main series.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Super Mario 3DS will be similar to that of Super Mario Galaxy series, especially to the other 3-D games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, as game as focus on platforming and around 3-D planets-like levels of varying sizes and with many different types of surfaces. However, as the the game is based on the Super Mario Bros. series, the game may be similar to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, due to the fact it looks more like a 3-D Mario game, with elements of Super Mario Bros. series, such as Small Mario. There will be old or new power-ups in Super Mario 3DS, the Super Mushroom will probably reappear in the game needed to turn Standart Mario into Super Mario. The Comet Medals return in the game, however, it is unknown if weither or not it functions the same as that of Super Mario Galaxy 2.
As Super Mario 3DS is set to be similar to Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario will be having a similar behavior, especially the Goombas, as shown in the gameplay how a Goomba chases after Small Mario in the screenshots.

Development
It was first announced in a "Iwata Asks" interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, where he confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS game is in development, but currently has not been given a proper title.[2] According to Satoru Iwata "it will be a game that will come with the kind of surprises and fun that only the 3DS can offer".[3] The game was announced officially in the Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco on March 2, 2011, under the name Super Mario.
Trivia
- The logo, although temporary, notably appears to have some sort of tail. Satoru Iwata pointed this out during the announcement of the game, indicating that it may reference an as-of-yet unknown detail about the game. It was also said they were thinking about the Raccoon Tail from Super Mario Bros. 3.
- In the third screenshot, it is seen that Mario is small and has no cap, similar to Wario's tiny form.
- It may also suggest that the player can lose Mario's cap in the game, like in Super Mario 64.
