Eggling

Egglings are the natives of Eggland and were attacked by the Koopa Troop during the events of Yoshi Topsy-Turvy. They managed to escape to Yoshi's Island, but they were turned into apples by a spell and trapped inside the pop-up book that Yoshi's Island had become with everything else. When prompted by The Spirit Who Loves Cuteness, Yoshi ate the apples and returned the Egglings to their old selves.

There are at least 100 Egglings; they come in three sizes and twenty varieties, including: Gold, Silver, Pearl, Zebra, Panda, Tiger, Leopard, Giraffe, Squirrel, Cow, Snake, Turtle, Bee, Deer, Dove, Flamingo, Raccoon, Owl, Angel, and Bear. Their names are puns based on their type.
