Template:Racecourse Grumble Volcano is the last course in the Star Cup of Mario Kart Wii. It takes place in a volcanic area covered with lava. Drivers will have to jump over gaps in the track with lava beneath using the ramps.

Description

The course takes place in a area riddled with lava. It can take place outside a volcano, but the first parts of the track take place inside a volcano with crumbling rocks that break and fall into the lava from time to time. Outside, the volcano may throw out balls of fire, which slide in the ground from side to side. This course obstacle appears after the race part taken inside the volcano, just outside past the moving platforms in the lava. After the fire on the ground part, there are Podoboos that come out of pipes that jump around and can spin out the player if the player initiates contact with them. ? Blocks are found dislodged in the volcano as scenery for the course.

Course Layout

Inside the volcano, after the crumbling road and tunnel.

The course begins with a straightaway, parts of which crumble away as the laps progress, leaving a much narrower road lined with lava pillars. This straightaway is followed by a short, curvy tunnel leading under part of the volcano, and then some turns where the road's edges crumble away over time. After the player turns left, the player would then hop onto moving platforms on the lava that move left and right and onto the road again, with more sections of the road that will crumble and fall down from time to time.

Through the hexagon tunnel.

After the small section is a longer tunnel with hexagons for walls, leading through the volcano's interior. There are two paths to choose from, with little or no time difference between them, each with three item boxes at their start. The left path is higher than the other, and some prefer how it aligns you with the tunnel exit a bit more squarely.

On the moving platforms.

After the paths and longer tunnel is a place with two more platform moving left and right; the player has to manage to go through the platforms because they move at different times. The second platform debouches onto two roads: One is higher than the other and can only be reached from the right side of the platform. It has a ramp with a boost pad on and can be used to dodge incoming flames. The left path can be reached by any means and item boxes can be found below.

After the two paths merge again, the player can have a danger of running into incoming fireballs, released by the grumbling volcano. The path again splits, with a ramp and boost pad on the right. After that curve are more fireballs to avoid, and a ramp that can give the ability for the player to perform tricks on.

Two paths split again and merge eventually later on reappear again. The path on the left leads to a turn on the left, uphill, eventually leading into a ramp with a boost pad on it that can grant the player a large boost and a trick. The other path, on the right leads to a sharp turn on the left, with a ramp and another turn to the right. After that the two paths meet, shortly before starting/finish line.

Shortcuts

The only shortcut for this course is an Ultra Shortcut (the first to be discovered for Mario Kart Wii). Mushroom is required. After the countdown, the player should position himself/herself on the checkered area on the ground the player starts on. The player should use a Mushroom, and this will propel the player over to the rock near the starting point. If it works, the player will find himself/herself on the rock. The player should drive around the rock, making sure to stay near the edge. The player should do this three times, and the player should finish the race.

Competitions

The June 2009 Competition 1.

The June 2009 Competition 1 took place in Grumble Volcano. Karts were the only permissible vehicle in this competition. It was a time trial race around the course backwards. The player started out with a set of Triple Mushrooms.
