I've heard the name "Baron Von Zeppelin" used as the name of this enemy. Can anyone verify the accuracy of this name? -- Son of Suns

OK, the Baron von Zepplin is the name of those balloons the drop things in both games. This is a THUNDER LAKITU. 3D

Thunder lakitus are nothing like sumo bros!

Why does the article state that their the airborne counterpart to sumo bros!? They're nothing like them! This is even worse than the fact that sumo bros and Chargin' chucks are related! Is there any proof? 81.145.105.55 10:43, December 14, 2024 (EST)

It says that they are essentially airborne counterparts, and their infobox also puts Sumo Bro at "Comparable", meaning they are not directly related.
But essentially, the reasoning for this is simply because their attacks are the same: they strike lightning down beneath them in order to hit their target, and said lightning bolt bursts into a flame or spark as it hits the ground. Can't be simpler than that. This is similar to how the D.D. article mentions Boomerang Bro.
Moreover, the Japanese version of Paper Mario: The Origami King, also suggests that the Japanese name of Sumo Bro, K.K., may be short for Kaminari Kyodai, which means "Thunder Brother". This matches with Kaminari Jugemu ("Thunder Lakitu"). Either dev team could've easily used an English loanword ("Sandā Burosu" or "Sandā Jugemu"; "Thunder Bros" or "Thunder Lakitu"), as they tend to do on many an occasion in the Mario franchise, but they both used the actual Japanese word for "Thunder" instead. Add to the fact that their attack method is pretty much the same, and you could totally understand why one would see Thunder Lakitu as the airborne Lakitu counterpart to Sumo Bro. rend (talk) (edits) 11:20, December 14, 2024 (EST)
