Thought Trial Stew or Mistake were useless? See these!
Banana
They are based on the fruit of the same name, specifically the Cavendish banana.
("Makes you wonder if people think Balthazar Cavendish from Milo Murphy's Law or Diana Cavendish from Little Witch Academia are Mario Kart references." Arend (talk)
Barrel
In the Mario universe, barrels do not differentiate from those in the real world. A barrel is made of several vertical convex staves (fourteen in the latest appearances) bound to form a pseudo-cylindrical vase, which is the barrel itself. Four gray steel hoops (only three in the New Super Mario Bros. games, and two in Wario Land 3) circle the staves: two of them are each placed at one of the barrel's base, while the other are donned on the barrel's bigger circumferences.
("This is so descriptive, it's hilarious. A description like this belongs on Wikipedia, not here. - Ultimate Mr. L (talk)")
Big Cookie
Cookies generally require flour and eggs to create. While a cake mix would not contain exactly the right ingredients to make a cookie, it can essentially be considered flour. Cookies are commonly made with nuts or berries in them as well, though these ingredients are not represented once the Big Cookie is made.
("thanks for the cooking advice on a wiki about Mario, Mrs. Fields" - Ray Trace (talk))
Blast Cannon
The Blast Cannon, when purchased, is wheeled to the Boss Room by the Item Shopkeeper. She then clicks his fingers, the Blast Cannon then fires a bomb at the boss, which causes a small amount of damage.
Blast-O-Cannon
Like pipes, Wario struggles for a short while to squeeze his fat buttocks to get inside.
Blue Shell
The Blue Shell (AKA: Flying Spiny Shell, Flying Wonder, Blue Demon, etc...) Is a variety of shell that appears in Mario Kart series. Upon being shot, it chases after the kart whom is first place to kick character's ass and lose time to that character to win the race.
WARNING: Don't use Blue Shells in first place, or you'll pay...
("I used the Blue Shell in first place. I got bombed. It was awesome." - Stooben Rooben (talk))
- The Spiny Shell is most likely the most annoying item in Mario Kart history.
Bongo
("The Bongo article had been given History sections on March 4, 2019, but the images that accompanied the original paragraphs weren't moved to the correct sections until more than four and a half years later." Arend (talk))
Bowser's Diary
It's a little known fact that if one reads Bowser's diary fifty time in the third chapter of Paper Mario that you come across a secret page that reveals it is actually Bowser and Kammy who sired Princess Peach. Bowser and Kammy were Human at the time, and it was only when one of Kammy's magical spells misfired that they were transformed into hideous turtle creatures. It is also well known that Mushroomers have a deep racial hatred for turtles (as they were declared property during the Forever Forest-Gusty Gulch Act) so it comes as no surprise that the Mushroomers naturally thought that their King and Queen had been devoured by rabid koopas and had Bowser and Kammy chased out of the Kingdom. Bowser then seized control of the twelve tribes of the Koopa and created the Glorious People's Army of the People and then set out to reclaim what was once his. During this time he developed a deep psychological obsession for his former daughter (who had since been taken it by Prime Minster Toadsworth Von Toadsworth) and began to believe that marrying her was the only way for him to revert to his true form. Thus, he kidnapped his daughter, conquered half of his former kingdom and declared Marshall Law. It is at that point where the first Super Mario Bros. begins.
this has been here for the last 6 years honest if you didnt see it you should lay off the shrooms
Bullet Bill
In Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 Bullet Bills slow down when nearing the end of its lifespan - which makes it less likely for a player to be thrown off the course.
("I didn't know Mario Kart was so dark." - Alex95 (talk))
Buzzy Shell
A Buzzy Beetle shell is basically the small shell worn by buzzy beetles. In first appeared in Super Mario Bros. where it was always worn by Buzzy Beetles. It was greenish if they appeared in caves, and black if they were in the sun. The Buzzy beetle shell has, so far, always been seen worn by Buzzy Beetles.
("Who exactly wears these mysterious shells?")
Chaos Emerald
An item that appeared in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and will appear in Luigi & Sonic at the Olympic Special Games.
("Mistake at the end is simply GOLD.")
Cheese
Thanks to its fame as a well-known, household object, cheese has been found and referenced in many games and media, mostly in other forms [...]
("Cheese isn't a household object, it's food." - Flipnote Hatena Fan (talk))
Coconut Shooter
- In the game's official artwork, Donkey Kong is shown holding the Coconut Shooter only with his right hand and about to trigger it. In the game, he holds it with both hands and uses his left hand to trigger it, but holds it only in his right hand after he runs out of Melon Slices.
- It can, in fact, fire in spurts.
- If it shoots ya, it is going to hurt.
("The DK Rap Remix sounds sick" - Flogger (talk))
Coin Box
? Boxes look just like ? Blocks.
("Pirate Goomba is an irate Goomba." — SolemnStormcloud (talk))
Command Block
They are not to be confused with Command Blocks from the popular game, Minecraft.
("Yes, because blocks that determine what move you do can totally be confused with blocks from a different game that spawn zombies, create lightning strikes, make TNT fall from the sky, and construct an entire computer.")
Compat-I-Com
In this Gaddget, a player must find out how much they love their girlfriends or boyfriends
("Obviously, the player can't get enough")
Crown (disambiguation)
Drill can refer to...
("...the drill that could be worn like a crown?" Arend (talk))
Crystal Coconut
In the show, the Coconut's abilities are pretty inconsistent and in each episode it's in it does whatever the plot demands.
Egg
In most games they appear in, they are a helpful item or a hindering item depending on the game and the time.
Fireworks
After Mario defeats RoboBrood, the Broodals and their robot fly into the air, exploding into fireworks featuring the defeated Broodals' agonized faces.
Frost-Frosted Cake
- We never get to see Mario eating it, even after its return to Shiveria.
Goal Pole
The tune that plays after Mario/Luigi grabs the Goal Pole in Super Mario Bros. is the same tune as the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower sound effects. However, there are some differences between the two: the tune that plays after Mario/Luigi grabs the Goal Pole is slowed-down, has more sequence of notes and are arranged differently, but they have the same chord progression.
("It's the same tune, but not." - Alex95 (talk))
Gold Dice Block
It can be useful when they want to land on a useful space so far..
Hard Block
Unlike ? Blocks and Brick Blocks, Hard Blocks cannot contain anything, but can contain a key in Super Mario Maker. They cannot be destroyed by Mario himself, but by other methods, such as Mega Mario.
(They cannot contain anything, but they actually can. Also, they cannot be destroyed by Mario, but by Mario.)
Hot Dog
Dyllis can mix a Power Steak and a Fresh Veggie to create a Hot Dog (though how she is able to make a pork tube out of a slab of steak is a complete mystery).
("Beef hot dogs exist")
Ice Bomb
An Ice Bomb is an attack item in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. [...] In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Koopa Klaus", Koopa Klaus himself uses Ice Bombs to freeze over Santa's workshop. However, the Ice Bombs in question are never seen, leaving their actual appearance a mystery.
("This was "frozen" on the page since March 9, 2009 and nobody bothered to "melt it away" until April 16, 2020, over 11 years later." — SolemnStormcloud (talk))
Koopa Pilaf
Koopa Pilaf is a recipe found in Super Paper Mario made by Dyllis. It is a zesty Koopa cuisine that halves damage taken for 30 seconds. It is made by mixing a Turtley Leaf with a Horsetail or a Hot Sauce.
("Now, for context, this isn't TOTAL nonsense; the in-game description of the item is "Zesty Koopa cuisine. Halves damage taken temporarily.", but seeing as this weird verbage leaked over from that to the article and went unnoticed since 2008—or 16 years... Yeah, there's better ways to elaborate upon an item's own in-game text, people! ;P" —Camwoodstock (talk)
Legendary treasure
During the credits, various Gold Treasures fly out of the treasure sack and are shown to the player. For each treasure, Wario remembers a scene from his childhood.
( You know, encountering a boss originating from the game you just played... standard childhood fare.)
Life Shroom
The simplest items in the game can make Life Shrooms, so Mario should stock up on the useless flora because they'll pay off later.
Mario's Glove
Intriguingly, Master Hand of the Super Smash Bros. series bears a striking resemblance to one of Mario's Gloves, particularly in Super Smash Bros., and to a lesser extent in later titles.
Talk:Meat
I heard it was possible to hack it into Mario's inventory, and that it restores 5HP and 3FP. Is this true?! I am leaning on NO, but... ...who knows? Please reply. Niiue - Who has lost his tail?
This is the biggest waste of a proposal set up i've ever seen Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
Megaflash Jump
The Megaflash Jump may be placed into the Sticker Museum as #6, alongside the other Jump-based stickers. Its description describes it as a large, strong, and shiny sticker with incredible attack power and a nice aesthetic to boot.
("I didn't notice the subtle irony here until just now. See if you can, too." - The Mansion (talk))
Mistake
In gact, upon using the item, the animation is the exact same as one; including the last sheep*.
*This link brings you to the Sammer Guy of the same name.
Motion-Sensor Bomb
In the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Melee, the Motion-Sensor Bomb is actually a Proximity Mine from Perfect Dark. However, in the North American and PAL versions, it is still the Proximity Mine from GoldenEye 007 (although in the actual trophy description, its game of origin is sneakily listed as "Top Secret").
Note Block
These blocks help you to do a big jump.Your jump doubles when you jump on one.Rarely, the have precious items.

Orange Grenade
Orange grenade is a basic weapon in DonkeyKong 64 that appear in every level there is also an evil version called Darth Orange that some enemeis use like Klumps and Zingers there are also some little sences with the oranges like Klump eating one and his belly inlargeing and tiny juggeling them.
Pasta
Pasta is a type of Italian food found on both Earth and Mushroom World. It is a highly favored food of both Luigi's and especially Mario's. Usually consisting of noodles and sauce, there is a wide variety of pasta that can either be found or mentioned in both the Mario games and the television series.
Throughout the course of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, is seen and spoken of quite frequently, particularly during the animated episodes. One of Mario's main motivations is to consume pasta, and he will go to nearly any length to get it. Mario even has a fondness for just the components of pasta, such as sauce, cheese and garlic. Many of King Koopa's insults for Mario and Luigi happen to be pasta-related, if they don't already have to do with plumbing.
Two places visited on the show are named for pasta. The first of which, the Linguine Empire, is a Roman-themed kingdom where pasta is considered a delicacy. The second is Pasta Land, where pasta is naturally grown and harvested.
The following types of pasta were, at one point or another, shown or otherwise spoken of, during the series.
- Cannelloni – large tubes of pasta filled with cheese or meat and covered in tomato sauce.
- Fettucine – long, flat noodles, often served with a cream sauce.
- Lasagna – tomato sauce, cheese and meat, sandwiched between uncut layers of flat noodles.
- Linguine – similar to fettucine, only with thinner noodles.
- Macaroni – small, u-shaped tubes of pasta, usually served in a cheesy sauce.
- Mostaccioli – small, cylindrical, rigged noodles.
- Ravioli – noodles similar to dumpings, filled with either meat, cheese or spinach.
- Rigatoni – medium-sized tubes of pasta, usually served in tomato sauce.
- Spaghetti – long noodles, usually served with some combination of red sauce and meat.
- Tortellini – small, ring-shaped noodles, often filled with either meat, cheese or spinach.
- Vermicelli – noodles similar to spaghetti, only thinner.
- Minestrone – actually a type of soup, but often contains small noodles.
In the episode 'Never Koop a Koopa', Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad were seen eating pasta and in 'Oh, Brother!', Kooky von Koopa was seen testing Mario to see if he was brainwashed with a bowl of pasta.
- The Nintendo Comics System story "Love Flounders" mentioned Bowling for Pasta, a pasta-themed sport that Mario, Luigi, and Toad regularly participate in.
- Super Mario Kraft Macaroni & Cheese was an actual Super Mario World tie-in product that was available during the early 1990's.
- Mario is Missing! – when Luigi visits Rome, not knowing where he is, a tourist gives him a hint by saying "I like pizza, I like pasta."
- Hotel Mario – In the first cutscene, Luigi says that he hopes that Princess Peach made "Lots-a spaghetti."
- Super Mario 64 – if the player leaves Mario alone long enough, he'll fall asleep and start dreaming about both ravioli and spaghetti.
- Super Mario 64 – one of Wiggler's insults towards Mario, calling him linguine breath.
- Super Mario 64 – Hoot the Owl claims Mario should "lay off the pasta" when the plumber hangs on him for long time.
- Super Mario 64 DS – Koopa the Quick tells Mario he's gained some weight and blames it on "too much pasta and lounging".
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong – when Mario gets a Game Over, leave him alone for a while and he'll start talking about pasta in his sleep.
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis – similar to its prequel, during the Game Over, this time the Mini Marios talk about pasta in their sleep, and Mario is also heard snoring too.
- Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time – the Star Gate that lives atop Star Hill is quite fond of pasta.
- Mario & Luigi: Dream Team – In Part 2 of a YouTube mini series made by Nintendo titled "Where Will Luigi Sleep Next?" based on said game, Mario is seen making pasta.
Peach (item)
While peaches are not commonly eaten in the Mushroom World, their presence has lead to the conception of the term, "peachy." This word can either be used to describe flavor or show one's positive opinion regarding a situation. While adventuring with Mario, Princess Toadstool was eaten by Belome. He commented that she tasted, "peachy" in Super Mario RPG. Later, Princess Peach would adopt this as a catchphrase, first using it during her second kart tournament and later while rescuing Mario from Bowser in Super Princess Peach, and once more when doubling herself during her adventures in the Sprixie Kingdom in Super Mario 3D World.
Pearl
In Donkey Kong 64, the Mermaid owns pills that had been stolen by Oysters, and Tiny Kong has to retrieve them for a Golden Banana.
Peg
Peg Boards also make appearances in the Jungle Jam, but they do not appear as much as Peg Boards.
Poison Mushroom
In Super Paper Mario, Poison Shrooms are a much more common occurrence than in its predecessor, occasionally being dropped by Zombie Shrooms, Cursyas, and their relatives. If you find one DON'T EAT IT.
Poop
Poop (or Feces) is animal excrement that first appeared in the WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!. In the North American version of the games, most poop was replaced with something else. For example, a mini-game in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! has Wario trying to catch fruit and diamonds in the United States; in Japan, the diamonds were actually poop.
One small exception to Nintendo's removal of poop can be found in WarioWare: Twisted!, where Wario had to dodge a bird poop in a mini-game present unabridged in both versions of the game. Also, in the microgame What Goes In..., after the food gets out of the body, it'll transform into a piece of poop.
Poop appears in WarioWare: Smooth Moves in Crowd Control where one of the things the player can scare people with was poop.
In Wario: Master of Disguise, when one of Arty Wario's drawings come out wrong, the drawing will turn into a piece of poop with eyes and legs and then run away from Wario. When it crashes into something it will disappear. However, if it crashes into Warp Doors or Blocks, the poop will destroy the Warp Door and Block. Also, if poop touched an enemy, the poop will immediately destroy the enemy. This is also helpful in a boss fight Wario has later in the game. A mini-game, called Trash It also has the player putting many objects to the place where they belong (for example, a Baseball with a Baseball Glove). One of the objects is poop, and the player, using the Stylus, must guide it to a toilet.
- Gallery
- Trivia
- Poop is also a beverage in many mario series games.
- ("I guess you could say that the image in the gallery is "crappy quality"". - Results May Vary (talk))
- ("Fun fact: Korea has an alcoholic beverage made from fermented poop, ttongsul (albeit extremely obscure), so this is not totally fantasy as you might think.") - Bazooka Mario (talk)
Power Moon
When Mario is near a Power Moon, he'll tilt his head to look at it.
("Along with pretty much everything else in this game." - Keyblade Master (talk))
Power Star
Power Stars are mystical artifacts with great power. Unlike the regular Stars, which only give limited invincibility, Power Stars grant the player great strength, power, energy and speed.
("Where exactly do they grant Mario any of these?" - LeftyGreenMario (talk))
P Switch
Gray P Switches can turn Munchers and Jelectros into regular coins; however, there was no original level that featured both Jelectros and a P Switch at the same time, as gray P Switches don't appear in Super Mario Bros. 3, and Jelectros don't appear in Super Mario World.
("There's actually some truth to this, but that wording is horrible.")
Red Coin
Red Coins are coins that sometimes appear along with Yellow Coins in the Mario series. The only difference between a yellow coin and a red coin is that red coins are red and they are worth 2 coins while yellow coins are yellow and are worth one coin.
("Blue coins are blue, right?" - Tsunami (talk))

Red Shell
Red Shells are red Koopa Troopa shells that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. Although not their first specific use, they were worn by Koopa Troopas.
[...]
The Red Shell's first appearance was in Super Mario Bros. They are found being worn by Koopa Troopas.
("...Which one is it!?" --Lord Grammaticus (talk))
Reverse Mushroom
A Reverse Mushroom is an uncommon type of Mushroom. It is the opposite of a Super Mushroom, causing someone who is enlarged to shrink and vice versa. This mushroom can be used against foes.
It made its debut in the Battle Game found in the main menu of the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3, where it would reverse the two players' positions on the screen or reverse their Super/Small forms.
It also appears in Mario Party 3. It is green with a red U-turn symbol on it and is Donkey Kong's favorite item. The player who has it can make any player on the board (including themselves) go in reverse when they are moving across it, until they reach a fork or area with multiple paths, then the person inflicted can choose to go forward in another direction, or still go backwards.
("Despite these two obviously unrelated mushrooms having absolutely nothing in common outside of being mushrooms (with the All-Stars item's official name not even being known at the time), this wiki had inexplicably considered them to be the same item since 2006, with no one bothering to say anything to the contrary until November 2019, and it taking until January 2021 for anyone to actually bother splitting it. It's astonishing how long nonsensical artifacts from Super Mario Wiki's stone age can survive for." - 7feetunder (talk)
Screen Clean
(It sure does.)
Smart Bomb (Nintendo Comics System)
It is unknown why Bowser commissioned the creation of Smart Bombs, though he may have done it in order to counteract the effects of the stupifying Stupid Bombs in case they backfired on the Koopa Troop. It seems Smart Bombs may actually have been as bad an idea as Stupid Bombs were, as when a Snifit accidentally breathed in the fumes of one, he became super-intelligent and usurped Bowser as king.
(Because speculating to pad out an article is always good. -TheDarkStar (talk))
Star Chip
They always appear in sets of five, obviously representing the five points of a star.
("So pompous..." - ViableBunnyBudd (talk))
Strawberry
Strawberry is based upon the real-world fruit of the same name.
Superball Flower
Superball Flowers turn Mario into Superball Mario. This gives the Mario the ability to shoot Superballs.
("So it is a Mario, huh? -FanOfYoshi (talk)")
Surprise Ball
A Surprise Ball (also known as a ! Ball) is a spherical block that Baby Yoshis use during the events of Yoshi's Story. They are round in shape and float in mid air. To use it, the Yoshi must use his tongue on these objects, and they will be pulled in, and thrust upwards, ending up standing on top of it.
Sweet Cookie Snack
sells for 20-30 coins (not completly sure)
Tanooki Suit
In a panel of the comic where the tailor sews a tail onto a Tanooki Suit, an object resembling a scrotum can be seen on the ground in-between him and the suit's pedestal.[1] Said object may be a theme-appropriate reference to mythological depictions of tanuki, which highlight their scrotum as a primary trait; with its inclusion, the comic also suggests that the production of Tanooki Suits requires sacrificing actual tanuki (with the scrotum representing a by-product of the animal), a concept that Nintendo would later deny.
- ^ MorganCherney (July 15, 2022). Time to right a wrong. I found the rare (even for scans) Super Mario comic from Valiant, "Tanooki Suits Me", only ever printed in ONE elusive book. Here it is for your enjoyment at last! Scans aren't @VGArtAndTidbits quality, but was the best I could do. Enjoy! (1/3). Twitter. Retrieved February 23, 2023.

Treasure chest
- Donkey Kong Country 2
- Diddy's Kong Quest
They are always placed on the ground, waiting for the characters to use them in certain contexts.

The more harder the difficulty level, the more Trophy Stands appear. Want a trophy? Extremly good brawler? Try Intense...if you dare!

Yellow Shell
Yellow Shells are yellow Koopa Troopa shells that are worn by Koopa Troopas.
