Wario's Woods (formerly known as the Peaceful Woods) is the location of where the events of the game Wario's Woods take place. It was inhabited by the Sprites peacefully until Wario had manipulated and gained control of the woods through his mysterious powers, then he sent out the woods' monsters (imprisoned by the curse he put over them) to overrun the forest. Toad, along with Birdo and the Sprites, ventured into Wario's Woods on a journey to restore peace there. After passing through countless areas and fighting several of Wario's monsters and mini-bosses along the way, Toad and the others reach the end of Wario's Woods, where they meet Wario. A final battle for the woods initiates between Toad and Wario. After being thwarted, Wario is chased out of the woods by Toad. Peace is restored to the woods, including Wario's monsters, which awoke from the nightmare that Wario placed on them.
The SNES version of Wario's Woods has a few differences. The woods has a meadow that is the setting of the majority of Vs. Com mode, has Wario's face cut out in its grass. The posing of this face appears to be based on artwork from Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. The woods are both the first and last areas seen in Round Game mode and the only setting of VS Com mode. The ending instead shows Toad destroying Wario Castle with a single bomb.
The inhabitants of the woods appear in neither version of Wario's Woods, although the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version implies that the creatures were made into Wario's monsters.
