Super Famicom

If there is an article on this, should there also be one on the Super Famicom (currently a redirect)? --Grandy02 17:23, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Separate article needed?

Is a separate article on the Famicom really needed? The Mario games for the console are mostly the same as for the NES. If someone was going to write about the various appearances of the NES/Famicom in Mario media (or are those not notable?), the two articles would become redundant since both the Famicom and NES are often found in the same game, but in different versions due to localisation. --Grandy02 13:13, 18 May 2010 (EDT)

There weren't any of the games for Famicom (Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels is for FDS), so I guess we should make a proposal to delete (not merge) the article. SWFlashSWFlash.svg

Pictures

Is anyone in Japan? If yes please help us find pictures! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 09:04, April 15, 2019 (EDT)

Pictures of what specifically? Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:06, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
Of the games and also put more info that is why I put a “Stub”! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 09:07, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
You need to give a reason if you're declaring this article as a stub. What information is it lacking? If it needs images, {{more images}} is what you'd add to the article. You might find images of the Japanese covers on the respective game's gallery pages anyway. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:12, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
So I need to put a good reason then I can put the STUB? [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 09:19, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
I'm asking you here why you're marking it as a stub. What needs to be added? Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:22, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
1st needs a ton of more pictures. 2nd There is not a lot of info like on the other pages!!! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 09:23, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
Is that a good reason? [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 09:27, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
Just because an article is shorter than other similar, larger articles, that doesn't mean it needs to be expanded. If it has all the information it needs, then it's not a stub. A short article doesn't always mean it's a stub. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:32, April 15, 2019 (EDT)
Ok well... I could try to make a game gallery. Let me see what I can do!!! [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 09:46, April 15, 2019 (EDT)

Russia release date: does the Dendy count as official?

As per the source, while the initial release of the Dendy: a clone of the Famicom distributed by Steepler with no association with Nintendo, later got authorization in 1994 in regards to the distribution of the Super NES and Game Boy systems in the region. However in regards to the Dendy clone consoles getting authorization, it appears this authorization was in regards to Nintendo not going after the company for distributing a clone of their system. Nintendo had no involvement with the Dendy brand even after this supposed authorization while in comparison Nintendo was involved with the distribution of Super NES and Game Boy products in cooperation with Steepler. For this reason I do not think the Dendy counts as an official release of the Famicom in Russia, even with Nintendo's authorization due to the lack of involvement on the big N's side. --Bro3256 (talk) 12:02, June 2, 2024 (EDT)

Merge with Nintendo Entertainment System?

I've been thinking about it for a while, and I really can't think of any good reason why this and the NES should be split. The Famicom is just the Japanese version of the NES with a different design. The only exclusive game (not including the Famicom Disk System or the Family Basic) is Donkey Kong Jr. + Jr. Sansū Lesson, which is basically a port of Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong Jr. Math on one cartridge. If anything, the Super Famicom has more exclusive games, with it having five exclusive games over one. I don't think the fact it has one exclusive game and the fact it looks different from the overseas NES justifies it to have its own article.
