Beetle Mania is a secret mini-game found in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that can be bought at the Mushroom Kingdom inn. It can be purchased for five hundred coins from a blue Toad. After speaking to it enough times, he will ask if Mario would like to buy it. Saying "yes" will add "game" to the 'X' menu. The game play is simple: By pressing the buttons A, B or Y, a Beetle shoots stars at red Koopa shells that fall over the insect. Hitting one will cause red stars to pop out. These can both hurt the beetle or activate other shells. In the instructions for the Virtual Console version of the game a Toad well run onto the screen asking the player not to use a Turbo Controller to play the game.
