I don't know what to call this section

I think we should make this article more like the Mario Series article. All I mean is that we should have the big template with bits for different games, items and characters. Tell me if you agree. (The same should go for the DK and Wario series.) Commander Code-8 (talk) 05:30 6 May 2010

This is not what I see as a series

The first 3 games are very invalid to the Yoshi Series. They are more like Yoshi seen at a Mario perspective and not at a Yoshi perspective. It's like if it has Yoshi in it's name it's automatically a Yoshi game. Plus Tetris Attack should also be here. --User:ChillGuy Yes, I think that the game shall be divided in puzzles (the first four) and platformers (all the other) (along with tech demos that are unchanged) World of Tsunami!

The Yoshi series don't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom

I don't know if the change was made to implied this, but Takashi Tezuka say in a interview that the Yoshi series and the Yoshi's Woolly World game don't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom. That could change something here.

It just means that Yoshi's Islands (and Egg Island, I guess) isn't part of the Mushroom Kingdom, which isn't actually surprising at all. Nothing that I can recall ever said it was part of the kingdom, so it was just speculation all this time, and it's a good thing that we finally have official information about it - so that we can fix the fanon that slipped in. - Walkazo 21:12, 26 November 2015 (EST)

Clarification

While separating between Yoshi's Island (series) and Yoshi puzzles. I noticed that Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, Yoshi Touch & Go, and Balloon Trip are the only ones I have doubts on. Can anyone (Reboot preferably) tell me which place they should be in. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 18:11, 18 October 2016 (EDT)

I mean, will you please delete the redirect called "Yoshi (series)"? Super Mario Sunshine Artwork: King BooWoodchuckWiggler in Super Mario Sunshine.

I'm not an admin, but I think the redirect should stay because some may call it a series and that was teh article's title for a time. On a more technical note, several pages link to the redirect and we'd get a ton of red links if it was deleted. However, you can work on changing those links if you want, using the What Links Here tool.

Actually, calling the page "Yoshi puzzles" seems kind of unprofessional to me. The "Yoshi (franchise)" and "Yoshi (series)" pages should stay, but I'd be for moving this to something like "Yoshi (puzzle series)". Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:39, 1 September 2017 (EDT)
Per Ultimate Mr. L and Alex. "Yoshi (series)" would more commonly be used to refer to the franchise as a whole than the puzzle series. (There wouldn't be red links, but rather links that point to the wrong page.) Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:47, 1 September 2017 (EDT)
Unless someone opposes the move to Yoshi (puzzle series), this would not even need a proposal (as it was established by a proposal). But, more users must say something before doing this. I am on board with moving this to Yoshi (puzzle series). Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 23:47, 1 September 2017 (EDT) Edit: Oh, the proposal was asking for a better name for Yoshi puzzles, so if no opposition, a proposal is not needed. "Adventures of Yoshi" source?

What is the source for the name "Adventures of Yoshi" used for the non-Yoshi's Island platformers? I've never heard of this name before, so I want to know if this is an official name. If not, I'm going to remove it. --Luigi 64DD.png (talk · edits) 22:57, 18 November 2017 (EST)

There's a video on the Yoshi platform games on Nintendo UK's official site, but it ultimately didn't give an actual name for the series, rather talking about Yoshi's adventures. This was fixed elsewhere but not yet here.--Mister Wu (talk) 06:24, 19 November 2017 (EST)

Decide which series certain Yoshi games are related to

Let me tell you what. The the Yoshi franchise began with a series of puzzle games, known as the "Yoshi series", which consists of Yoshi, Yoshi's Cookie, and an expansion game based on Yoshi's Cookie, with Yoshi's Safari and Tetris Attack being being related games in the series. Likewise, theYoshi franchise games Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Woolly World, Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, and Yoshi's Crafted World are all platformers which play similarly to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, while Yoshi Topsy-Turvy is a platformer that features a similar story to Yoshi's Story. Perhaps there's a possibility to choose the one of the following three options:

  • Option #1: Merge miscellaneous Yoshi platformers into the Yoshi's Island series article via the addition of the "Other related games" section and split Yoshi puzzles and Yoshi's Safari into "Yoshi (series)" even if the Yoshi series' name is confusing
  • Option #2: Only merge Yoshi platformers into the Yoshi's Island series article via the addition of the "Other related games" section
  • Option #3: Do nothing

Merge platformers and split puzzles and Yoshi's Safari

  1. GuntherBB (talk) Per proposal.

Merge only platformers

  1. Hewer (talk) Per me ten months ago, and the platformers are pretty clearly based on the Yoshi's Island games.
  2. Arend (talk) A while ago, I had been thinking that the Yoshi platformers should've been considered as part of (or at least adjacent to) the Yoshi's Island series, because it's clear to me that nearly all of them are based on the original 1995 game and its two sequels; a stark contrast to the puzzle games (and the one on-rail shooter) that are all based on the core Super Mario games instead... except for Tetris Attack, that is (which I believe we should count as a Yoshi's Island spinoff, too).

Do nothing
