Move Bellyache Bulges information to Gobblegut and Fire Gobblegut

Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome Despite the lenghty information, this article talks a lot of a creature's body part, namely its weak points. I suggest to take this information to the articles in question which talk all about the enemies and the ways to defeat them.

Merge

  1. Coincollector (talk) - Per Mii.
  2. MrConcreteDonkey (talk) - Per Coincollector.
  3. Knife (talk) - Per Coincollector.
  4. BabyLuigiOnFire (talk) These things are part of Gobblegut and nothing else. I don't even understand why they are even in separate articles when this thing is just Gobblegut's weak points.
  5. UltimatePetey (talk) I now understand this. I now realize that many bosses from the Mario series have their weakpoints somewhere in the article. Per Coincollecter.
  6. Ultramariologan (talk) Per Coincollector.
  7. DKC2 King Liam (talk) - If it has most info that Gobblegut article has then sure.

Do Not Merge

  1. Bowser's luma (talk) The Bellyache Bulges seem to be a different entity than Gobblegut/Fire Gobblegut. The article should stay.
  2. Phoenix (talk) I agree.

Comment

@ opposers: As I said before, just because the article's info seems too long doesn't mean it deserves its own article. First, this only talks about a body part of an enemy and is not an entity (if it were it should be considered a character of sorts), second, there is no more categories that match with the topic, it's from Mario Galaxy 2... what else? third, most of the info talks in a way how to defeat gobblegut, but just remarking to the bulges than the method in general and this can be added in the Gobblegut and Fire Gobblegut article, increasing conveniently these two with this information than making one cut off. Coincollector (talk)

@ Bowser's luma: How are Bellyache Bulges a different entity from Gobblegut? They are part of his body and aren't even sentient.--Knife (talk) 17:55, 9 January 2011 (EST)

@ everyone: Come on guys, please don't do this, I mean, how are Gobblegut and Bellyache Bulges different from Fracktail and Frackles, or Wracktail and Wrackles? They all have separate articles...

Phoenix (talk) 10:33, 19 January 2011 (EST)

Again Bellyache Bulges are Gobblegut's part (it's like making a separate article for Bowser's arms) and unlike to the other articles this is not a character, and most of the info you have writen says the way to destroy them, similar to that of gobblegut an fire gobblegut's strategy sections, so it is pointless to do this. Coincollector (talk)

Ok...fair enough...(though if you consider most of the locations in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, it makes more sense) are you going to merge the article to both of the articles or just one of them...?

Phoenix (talk) 17:08, 19 January 2011 (EST)

Both. Coincollector (talk)

Okay, shouldn't this have been merged three days ago...?

Phoenix (talk) 13:05, 24 January 2011 (EST)

It's done now. 30STM.PNG This Is War 30STM.PNG 16:57, 1 February 2011 (EST)

Merging Gobblegut (Black) to Gobblegut

There was a suggestion at one point that this article would be merged into the Gobblegut page. I’m not sure about this; other than similar fighting tactics, it seems that the bosses are different from each other. At the same time, they are the same species. What does anyone say to this merge? The King Kaliente page has both variants of the king on the same page, so if Gobblegut (Black) is just a variant of Gobblegut, we may as well merge. Mariofan1996 (talk) 10:40, September 25, 2022 (EDT)

This was actually discussed before, but it was agreed that King Kaliente was one and the same due to only the battlefield changing, whereas the two variants of Gobblegut change drastically in that this variant has numerous fire-based attacks whereas the normal variant does not. It seems analogous to the Hisstocrats, which we merged. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:09, September 25, 2022 (EDT)

Merge to Gobblegut

I was going to wait until after the proposal on the Dino Piranhas was resolved to start this one, but since some opposition only wanted to merge if this was too, I'll go ahead and start it now. The reasons are still mostly the same, except this one doesn't have anything resembling an alternate name. Merging will be consistent with the King Kalientes and the Hisstocrats, as it is officially treated as a harder color variation with more burning involved.

  1. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - Dragon this out.
  2. Camwoodstock (talk) We thought on it for a little bit, and we figure that in the absence of the strong argument that Fiery Dino Piranha has a name unlike this weirdo... Well, we had more but then this vote got too long, see comments.
  3. Hewer (talk) Per proposal.
  4. Remembered Old Buddy (talk) Per proposal
  5. Sparks (talk) Per all. The mission is even titled "Snacktime for Gobblegut", not Fiery Gobblegut or whatever.
  6. LinkTheLefty (talk) Consistency.

So, on how distinct bosses can be before being unique: Now, we don't know much on the inner workings of these games, so bear with us here, but we do know from noclip.website that Gobblegut (Black), at the very least, has a unique model; however, Black King Kaliente also has his article merged when he has a unique model as well. We don't know if the Hisstocrat has the same deal, or if it's just a flat-out texture change that uses the same model, rather than some fully bespoke unique model.

Either way, this leaves the idea that either this guy needs to be merged, or King Kaliente needs to be split--we think the reading that makes the most sense is that Gobblegut (Black), King Kaliente (Black), and all those 3D World bosses that do this (Hisstocrat being the biggest offender, but we're honestly more inclined to call out Motley Bossblob here because he has three--count 'em--three variants!) are the closest a boss gets to being a unique character without actually being unique (they have unique visuals and combat, but identical names), whereas Fiery Dino Piranha is the closest a boss gets to being not a unique character while still being actually distinct (the biggest distinction, of course, being that he has at least a name, even if one from a guidebook, it was evidently official enough to also make it onto official merchandising. No such mercy with Gobblegut (Black), King Kaliente (Black), nor the motley crue of 3D World bosses.)

Oh, and just for the sake of future-proofing--seeing as 3DAS came and went and didn't think to give King Kaliente (Black) a proper name, unless something weird happens like a Mario Portal-esque website declaring these guys to have their own names after all, Fiery Dino Piranha will most likely be standing alone in this regard. However, if for whatever reason Nintendo felt like being like "Oh, Hisstocrat's second fight is actually his wife Bisherpent" or something like that, we would be 100% fine to say to re-split the articles. ~Camwoodstock (talk) 00:33, November 16, 2023 (EST)

noclip has the Kalientes and the Dinos as the same. The Gobbles technically still have the same model, noclip just more accurately reflects the texture swap for them. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:32, November 16, 2023 (EST)
