WiiWare is both applications and original games that can be downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel. Some of these applications are free, while others cost Wii Points. They include the Internet Channel, the Everybody Votes Channel, the Check Mii Out Channel, an updated Photo Channel, and the Nintendo Channel.
There are also WiiWare games that available for purchse, much like with Virtual Console games. However, these games are original titles, and can all be played using a Wii Remote, unlike many games on the Virtual Console channel which may require a Wii Classic Controller or a GameCube Controller. Currently, only one Mario game is available, but more are likely to follow.
