Relatives

J-son (generically referred to by Nintendo Power as masked ghouls[1]) are enemies in the Pumpkin Zone's first and final stages in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They are walking enemies wearing hockey masks with daggers stuck in them, a reference to Jason Voorhees, the main antagonist of the Friday the 13th film series. Functionally, they act the same as Goombas, and are directly depicted as such in the Kodansha adaptation.

What's under that field hockey mask?
A character wearing a field hockey mask with a knife in it. At first glance, it looks like one of the Ghost clan, but it can be defeated normally. Looking at its movements, it seems to be a Goomba inside.
