Final 5 Frenzy

Final 5 Frenzy is a variant of the Last Five Turns Event. It appears in Mario Party DS. In Story Mode and Party Mode, it takes place at the start of the turn when only five turns remain. On that turn, Final 5 Frenzy takes priority, occurring before any of the players take their turn.

Gameplay

During Final 5 Frenzy, Bowser gives out the current standings as usual and gives the losing player a bonus, chosen by a wheel. All Friend Spaces are also changed into Duel Spaces.

Possible Prizes presented in the Final 5 Frenzy:

• Get 20 Coins
• Get 30 Coins (Toadette's Music Room and Kamek's Library only)
• Get 1 Star
• Get 10 Coins From Others
• Stars for 5 Coins (for Wiggler's Garden, DK's Stone Statue, and Bowser's Pinball Machine only)
• #FFCC11
• #FFCC11

The yellow prizes at the bottom of the wheel can never be awarded — if the wheel lands on a yellow prize, the wheel will suddenly turn to a different prize.

If multiple players are tied for last place, Bowser will randomly choose one of them to spin the roulette.

Occurrence

The Final 5 Frenzy occurs on the turn that is five turns before the end of the game, or four turns before the last turn. In turn-based games, a count of the turns is displayed on the top screen. Its notation is two numbers, separated by a slash. The number on the right is the predetermined number of turns. This can be 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30, of the player’s choice. This number is constant for the whole game. The number on the left is the current turn. When this number is four less than the total number of turns, this is the turn on which Final 5 Frenzy happens.

• In a game with 10 turns, Final 5 Frenzy happens on the sixth turn, or Turn 6/10.
• In a game with 15 turns, Final 5 Frenzy happens on the eleventh turn, or Turn 11/15.
• In a game with 20 turns, Final 5 Frenzy happens on the sixteenth turn, or Turn 16/20.
• In a game with 25 turns, Final 5 Frenzy happens on the twenty-first turn, or Turn 21/25.
• In a game with 30 turns, Final 5 Frenzy happens on the twenty-sixth turn, or Turn 26/30.

Effects

After Final 5 Frenzy, all Friend Spaces are changed to Duel Spaces.

A countdown of the remaining turns shows up on screen as the players take their turns.

If “Stars for 5 Coins” was awarded at Final 5 Frenzy, all players can buy stars for only five coins for the rest of the game.
