Talk:Mysterious Cloud
Mysterious Clouds
These are referred to specifically as "Mysterious Clouds" by no less than three Moon Pipe missions. Admittedly, with the first two, they act a little different, having an outline around them which is filled in when they are hit, but the third one (in the Luncheon Kingdom, iirc) is completely unrelated to those two, and has them act as normal. Should this be the name used? At the first two, I thought it might be a generic or subtype name, but with the third, it seems like this was the intended actual name. - The term is only used for two Power Moons - three in the Japanese version (ふしぎな雲 Fushigi na Kumo, same meaning) - but I'd say after the first time it was most likely intended as its actual name. Mario JC 02:21, 25 May 2018 (EDT)
Move to either Hat Cloud or Cap cloud

So, here's the situation. The current name of Mysterious Cloud comes from two Power Moon names, that being "Across the Mysterious Clouds" in Cascade Kingdom and "Volcano Cave and Mysterious Clouds" in Luncheon Kingdom. As discussed in the above conversation, the game is consistent about using this name for moons involving the hat-shaped clouds, across every language. The thing is, I don't think it's supposed to be their name, but rather a description of them. The Art of Super Mario Odyssey calls them Hat Cloud instead (including the Japanese version, which calls them 帽子雲), and it uses the same name as Odyssey itself for obscure stuff like Warp Holes. This seems like the most reasonable decision.
Alternatively, Prima calls them cap cloud. I don't think we should take a Prima name over both the game and the concept art, but I'll include an option for it anyways.
