A Walk on the Weird Side
Template:Missionbox A Walk on the Weird Side is the first mission of the Upside Dizzy Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2. The objective is to simply navigate to the end of the galaxy's gravity chambers. The mission's name is a pun on the title of the song "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed.
Mission
The player immediately flies into a Warp Pipe, which takes them inside the main planet. To reach an upper ledge, the player has to propel themselves up using the reversed gravity, then use the reversed gravity to stand on moving platforms above. Next, the player has to using moving reversed gravity segments to reach an upper ledge. Afterward, the player has to ground-pound a blue switch to temporarily change the flow of gravity to reach a Warp Pipe to the next segment.
In the next area, the gravity will change constantly to the music's rhythm, similar to in Beat Block Galaxy, and be signified by the sounds coming from the Wii Remote (or the television if the Wii Remote's speaker is turned off). After every eight beats, the gravity will flip, and there is no pause between the beats. Using this mechanic, the player needs to time their movements with the flow of gravity to avoid obstacles such as electric rails and progress. In some areas, there are moving segments with stable gravity the player has to use to cross obstacles. In the final area, the player has to time the gravity change with their jump to reach the Power Star.
