Galoombas

They were referred to as just Goombas back in Super Mario World, specifically Page 23 of the manual. Keep reverting these edits and you might get blocked temporarily. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 15:04, June 9, 2019 (EDT)

It makes no since that you are so adamant that it is goomba, it is a very minor detail and it's not a false one either. It was later revealed that they were called galoombas in SM3DW and they are a subspecies, not a goomba. I should not have listed it as a minor edit as now I have read what qualifies as a minor edit according to the Help:Editing page section 1 paragraph 5 clause(s) 1 & 2 and I see that I was in violation of those rules and for that I apologize but there is no reason that you should threaten me it's not like I'm giving misinformation. I have to find something to edit to increase my ranking. Awesomehippos (talk) 16:42, June 9, 2019 (CDT)

When referring to subjects in older games, we use the names used in those games. For example, Princess Peach is referred to as Princess Toadstool in older games, Bloopers as Bloobers, etc.. Galoombas didn't have a unique name until 3D World, which is why we refer to them as simply Goombas when discussing older games. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! I understand that you get upset about these kinds of things after reading your User page but I feel exactly the same way you do when you change my edits. I completely understand that logic but need to do something to boost my ranking and I'm not violating any rules. Also who are you? you're not the same user.

Any user can chime into a discussion; it's how talk pages work. Keep in mind the disclaimer at the bottom of the page anytime you make an edit. "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then don't submit it here." Any edit can be reverted or changed at any time, and don't be surprised if that happens when the edits you make are violating our editing guidelines. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. First of all, How was I violating editing guidelines, secondly, I'm not saying that you can't be here I'm just wondering why you're here and whee did the other person go -- Awesomehippos (talk) 17:05, June 9, 2019 (CDT)

MarioWiki:Naming#Name changes says "When mentioning subjects whose names have changed overtime, the newest name generally takes greater priority, except in the context of older media where they went by previous names, in which case those are used instead.", which your edits regarding Galoombas violated. I saw the discussion in the recent changes and thought I'd chime in, I don't know where Owencrazyboy9 went since I'm obviously not him. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Thank you I will no longer make edits violating that rule. I should study the guidelines before making changes to pages -- Awesomehippos (talk) 16:55, June 9, 2019 (CDT)

From what I understand, article titles are intended to have the more recent name of the subject, while each individual game section in the article is intended to have the name that was used in that particular game, regardless of the actual article title. In this case, Galoombas are referred to as Galoombas in more recent appearances, hence the article for them, while they were referred to as Goombas in older games, so they are referred to as Goombas when discussed in the context of those older games. That is why it violates that policy to use the newer name for an older game. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 18:15, June 9, 2019 (EDT)

I Understand thank you for the clarification. -- Awesomehippos (talk) 17:19, June 9, 2019 (CDT)

If anyone has anything else to say they can say it now because I am about to delete everything on this discussion. (Unless that violates a rule in which case nevermind)-- Awesomehippos (talk) 17:28, June 9, 2019 (CDT)

That does violate a rule. Users aren't allowed to alter or remove conversations on talk pages; they are intended to be permanent. See here. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 18:30, June 9, 2019 (EDT)
