- On November 8, 2018, publisher DK announced that Prima Games (pictured) would be discontinued in spring 2019 due to a large decline in strategy guide sales.
- Luigi's Mansion was re-released for the Nintendo 3DS on October 12, 2018 in North America, on October 19 in Europe, on October 20 in Australia, and on November 8 in Japan and South Korea.
- During the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct on November 1, 2018, Piranha Plant was revealed as a playable DLC fighter. Ken Masters from the Street Fighter franchise and Incineroar from the Pokémon franchise were also announced as playable fighters.
- Mario Segale, Mario's namesake, died on October 27, 2018 at the age of 84.
