Star Temple gate
The Star Gate is a character in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, being the gateway to the Star Shrine. The Mario Brothers (both younger and older counterparts) go to the Star Shrine to search for a Cobalt Star Shard. However, the path was blocked by the Star Gate. It told the four that they must be deemed worthy to pass. Mario's heart is read and classified pure. The Star Gate did not have to read the Babies' hearts, as it knows that they are already pure. However, the Star Gate claims Luigi was cowardly and therefore denied entry. Nevertheless, it offered them three choices to make up for his ignobleness: go home and have a nice pasta dinner ending their quest, leave Luigi behind and continue without him, or find an artifact called the Aurora Block; the group had no choice but the third option. Once they found this block, Luigi was told to hit it. However, it kept moving away from him. After this, the Star Gate asked who was responsible for the accomplishment, and the three options were:
- "(1) Mario"
- "(2) The Babies"
- "(3) Me, me, ME!"
After choosing three times, the Star Gate roars out that it was "(4) Everyone". Far worse, the gate refused to admit there were only three choices instead of four and doesn't stop talking back, until Luigi starts to cry. Eventually, Mario and the babies attack it and pleads to it on Luigi's behalf. Amazed at Mario's and the babies' brotherly love, the Star Gate dubs them "the best siblings ever" and confesses that this was all just a test to prove their brotherly bond. He also deems all four brothers worthy to enter the Star Shrine, including Luigi. Luigi is then told to strike the Aurora Block, which he ultimately does. It then turns giant to match the size of Luigi's heart, squashing him. After this, the Star Gate finally opens. Template:BoxTop
