Super Smash Bros. is a game for the Nintendo 64 that contains numerous Nintendo characters. (Created by Hal) It is a fighting game in which the player must defeat the other player multiple times in a fighting frenzy of items, power-ups, an original health system, and outrageous Nintendo-themed levels.

Even though it isn't fully a Mario game, it's based more on Mario than any of the other characters, as the name itself gives out, and is popular for its gameplay and engine.

Arenas

There are eight selectable arenas in Super Smash Bros. Three of them are Mario-themed; one is set on a floating arena high above Peach's Castle, in the sky; another is an unlockable stage, set in an arena that looks like it was taken straight out of the original Super Mario Bros., complete with brick blocks, falling platforms, Warp Pipes with Piranha Plants in them, and 8-bit Goombas and Koopas in the background. The third arena is based on Yoshi's Story, with Fly Guys and Goonies flying about in the sky, the Super Happy Tree in the background of the arena, and cloud platforms that vanish when stood on for too long. The Yoshi's Story stage reappeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Items

Several items in the game are Mario-based. These include:
