Gold Bars are meant for storing money. You cannot use them in combat in anyway, and can only sell them for coins. If you buy a lot of items at a store at once, you'll get one for free!
Single Gold Bars are worth 100 coins each, whereas Gold Bars x3 are worth 300 coins.
